Allan Fletcher Papers DENBIGHSHIRE ARCHIVES DD/DM/1749 Allan Fletcher Papers Local historian, Allan Fletcher (1923-2005), played an active role in the Denbighshire Historical Society for many years including secretary between 1990 and 1998, later vice- president, vice-chairman and chairman. He was also involved in Edeirnion Historical Society, Flintshire Historical Society, Friends of Clwyd Archives and the Merioneth Historical Society. He delivered many local history lectures and published articles in local publications. The collection mainly consists of research notes. Daines Barrington, in his preface to his first edition of the work, published in 1770, has well said, "The MS. hath, for above.a cent~ry, been so prized in North Wales, that many in those parts have thought it worth while to make fair and complete transcripts of it." Of these transcripts the earliest known to exist is one in the Library at Brogyntyn. It was probably written within 45 years of the death of the author; but besides that, it contains a great number of notes and additions of nearly the same date, which have never yet appeared in print.     The Search for San Ffraid ‘A thesis submitted to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in the fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts’ 2012 Jeanne Mehan 1 Abstract The Welsh traditions related to San Ffraid, called in Ireland and Scotland St Brigid (also called Bride, Ffraid, Bhríde, Bridget, and Birgitta) have not previously been documented. This Irish saint is said to have traveled to Wales, but the Welsh evidence comprises a single fifteenth-century Welsh poem by Iorwerth Fynglwyd; numerous geographical dedications, including nearly two dozen churches; and references in the arts, literature, and histories. This dissertation for the first time gathers together in one place the Welsh traditions related to San Ffraid, integrating the separate pieces to reveal a more focused image of a saint of obvious importance in Wales. Schedule of documents deposited on indefinite loan by the County Librarian per Wrexham Area Library. 20 July 1976 (Ref: DD/BE) Clwyd Record Office 46, Clwyd Street, Ruthin, Clwyd A.N. 321 July 1987 S.P.BEVON MSS. This collection consists of material received from a Wrexham solicitor, relating to his personal and business affairs, and to some of his clients. The bulk of S.P.Bevon's personal papers consist of correspondence about properties he owned in Wrexham, and reports and prospectuses of various mining and plantation concerns abroad, in which he owned shares. There is no autobiographical material. The rest of the collection has been sorted into sequence by parish, with separate sections for court cases and election papers, as there is no large quantity of material relating to an individual client. Perhaps the most interesting item is a photograph showing the range of products made by Ewloe Potteries, Buckley, in the 1920s. Other interesting subjects include Ffos-y-go Colliery, Gwersyllt, 1901-4; the appointment of a receiver for the New Llangollen Slate and Slab Company. 1898-1903; prospectus of Broughton Hall Iron Company, c.1890; complaints about conditions at Croesnewydd Military Hospital, Wrexham, 1917; and a dispute over building costs of a new church at Brynteg, 1894-5. There are also some files of papers relating to S.P.Bevon's clients, 1920-40, in the Wrexham Library collection.

    Conwy and Denbighshire Public Services Board: Well-being Plan 2018 - 2023 Technical Document A summary version of this document is also available Foreword I am pleased, on behalf of partners on the Conwy & Denbighshire Public Services Board (PSB), to introduce this Local Well-being Plan for our two counties. It is the culmination of work that began in April 2016, and represents our conclusions on what we feel are the key areas that pose the greatest need or challenge for our communities, and where we feel the PSB can make the greatest contribution without duplicating good work already taking place within existing partnerships and organisations. In this technical document we have outlined some of the highlights from our local assessment of well-being (which is available to view online here) and the conversations that we have had with our communities and stakeholders in the development of this Local Well-being Plan. We have then outlined the priorities the PSB will focus on to help address the issues that we have identified. This technical document is supported by a summary version of the plan. A lot of work has already taken place to get us to this point, but this is only the start of the PSB’s journey. This Local Well-being Plan is an outline of what it is we would like to achieve, but there is more work to be done to develop our programme of work, and we would welcome your input into this as part of our ongoing conversation with our communities.
