Every time I go back to Nunavut, I am often the one who is taught although I am the one going to teach, this year was no exception. IV Note to the Reader on Verb Tenses Oftentimes within this thesis, there are instances where the verbs are used in the present tense when discussing events in the past. In these situations, I have intentionally chosen to use the present tense to indicate that these events (or feelings) continue to apply to this day, even ¡f the way in which they apply are not the way they might have applied in the past. Drawing from Richardson's (1994) writing-as-a-method-of-inquiry, this intentional choice serves the purpose of allowing multiple interpretations of the words before us (Richardson, 1994, 1997, 2001) in the postmodern sense. Part of the focus is on the meaning of the relationship between, and the interpretation of, the past and the present (Somerville, 2007) as "the inherent capacity of time to link, in extraordinarily complex ways, the past and present to a future that is uncontained by them has the capacity to rewrite and transform them" (Grosz, 1999, p. 7). These instances speak directly to the nature of decolonizing journeys - they are processes. As I progress along my own journey, I continue to address my own Eurocentrism and better learn to see Aboriginal culture. While I grow from the process, there is always more to be done. ? Abstract Education ¡? Nunavut, still largely based on EuroCanadian knowledge and Western teachings, ¡s a negative experience for many Nunavut youth - the result of cultural inappropriateness and worldview mismatch. The mismatch is one between an appropriate learning experience and the character, values, and traditions of Nunavut - and it remains especially pronounced in science education. In addressing this mismatch, I strive to decolonize both practice and practitioner by using movie camera lenses: in the first instance, to lend voice to lnuit youth's perspectives on science and, in the second instance, to turn the lens inward to address my own Eurocentric worldview and how it impacts the science education I deliver. Through this decolonizing synergy, I search to understand and deliver science education that strives to reach tenets of respectful research - to enact decolonizing actions that speak louder than words. 1 Introduction Schooling in Nunavut is still largely based on EuroCanadian knowledge and Western teaching, and is still largely a negative experience for Nunavut youth communities. The locus of the problem is not one of achievement but rather one of cultural inappropriateness (Aylward, 2007; Barnhardt & Kawagley, 2008; Battiste, 2005; Mason, 2006) -there is need for appropriate learning experiences that match the character, values, and traditions of Nunavut (Cajete, 1999; Mason, 2006; Peat, 2002). Currently, one of the most obvious mismatches is between lnuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ), "all aspects of traditional lnuit culture including values, world-view, language, social organization, knowledge, life skills, perceptions and expectations" (Nunavut Social Development Council, 1998) and science education.

    CanadianCharitylaw.ca/ RedskyFundraising.com/ Canadian charities giving to Indigenous Charities and Qualified Donees - 2018 By Sharon Redsky, Wanda Brascoupe, Mark Blumberg and Jessie Lang (May 31, 2021) We recently reviewed the T3010 Registered Charity Information Return database for 2018 to see how many gifts and the value of those gifts were made from Canadian registered charities to “Indigenous Charities” and certain Qualified Donees such as First Nation Governments or ‘Bands’ (listed as “municipal or public body performing a function of government in Canada”). Together we refer to them as “Indigenous Groups”. To identify Indigenous Groups, we reviewed the list with all grants over $30,000 and we also used terms and phrases such as: Indigenous, First Nation, Metis, Inuit, Indian, Indian Band, Nation, Tribal council, National Indian Brotherhood, etc.. We also used a list from the Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Fund by CanadaHelps developed by Wanda Brascoupe. We cut off the review at $30,000 because these larger grants are over 28,000 grants and also encompass about 90% of the value of grants made by Canadian charities to qualified donees. If an individual or corporation donates to an Indigenous Group, this would not be reflected in this article as we only have visibility as to registered charities making gifts to other qualified donees. By changing the way we talk about STEM, we open the doors and invite women to pursue this change. Our story is one of a creative, engaging, and rewarding profession where people solve problems, design solutions, help local and global communities, and love what they do. With this story, UBC Engineering went from an annual intake of 19% women to 30% women. By changing the way we talk about diversity in STEM, we motivate people to create change. We designed easy‐to‐read business cases for change, and backed them with facts and citations. Companies asked for copies, and referenced them. Non‐profits entered co‐branding distribution agreements. We changed the discourse from a women in STEM issue to a people in STEM issue. WWEST transformed the way organizations act on encouraging diversity in STEM. We provided expertise, a hub, and a conduit for activity.

By Mark Blumberg (June 10, 2017) We recently reviewed the T3010 information for 2015. It covers about 84,442 of the 86,000 registered charities that have so far filed their return and that have been entered into the CRA’s database. Canadian registered charities are currently required to disclose on the T3010 their revenue from the Federal government. The total revenue from the Federal government of all the 84,442 registered charities was about $6,862,811,349.00. Below we have a table of Canadian charities that received over $100,000 from the Federal government in the charity’s 2015 fiscal year and the amount received from the federal government. Thank you to Celeste Bonas, an intern at Blumbergs, for helping with this project. The Sean Blumberg Transparency Project is in memory of my youngest brother Sean Blumberg.     2019 ANNUAL REPORT PERFORMANCE INDICATORS We wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
