With its assertion as a predictive, prescriptive, and evidence-based approach to aid crisis communication managers and professionals, numerous studies have tested facets of this theory with varying degrees of success. However, as crisis communication activity increasingly involves online communication, and social media in particular, new avenues of exploration are opened to examine this theory further as new questions come to light. Such as: what impact does the technology of social media have on the practice of crisis communication? How does the prescriptive format of this theory fit the realities of small business and organizations? As social media invites internal stakeholders and fans into open conversation with organizations, and as fans take it upon themselves to speak in defense of organizations during a crisis event, what is the impetus for this behavior and is there a way to capture and quantify this behavior as it manifests online? Do the older theories of crisis communication have utility when involved stakeholders are increasingly more conversant? The sinking of the tallship the HMS Bounty and the use of the organization’s Facebook fan page for the purposes of crisis communication sets the context for this research. As the singular point of communication from the organization to the public, the case is examined from the perspectives of the parties of interest using Situated Crisis Communication Theory and Halo Effect as a guide. A mixed method was used for discovery, triangulation, and cross-validation of analysis. Data was collected from the organization’s Facebook status updates and corresponding comments before, during, and after the sinking and assessed each quantitatively and qualitatively. Further, online conversations regarding the event in various forums and community pages were analyzed as well. Lastly, interviews were performed with persons from various stakeholder iv groups involved on the online conversations and were reviewed for clarification of events and more in-depth analysis. Key findings of this research identified a disparity between the applicability of SCCT and the realities of small businesses especially fan-based organizations, that technology has the potential to exacerbate secondary crises, and that there may be a predictive quality of fans exhibiting halo effect behavior. A1.1 The Elliott 152 Work on the MRS5 contract at Borehamwood began in October 1946 and was essen- tially finished in 1950. Novel target-tracking radar was at the heart of the project, the radar being synchronized to the computer’s clock. In his enthusiasm for perfecting the radar technology, John Coales seems to have spent little time on what we would now call an overall systems design. When Harry Carpenter joined the staff of the Computing Division at Borehamwood on 1 January 1949, he recalls that nobody had yet defined the way in which the control program, running on the 152 computer, would interface with guns and radar. Furthermore, nobody yet appeared to be working on the computational algorithms necessary for three-dimensional trajectory predic- tion. As for the guns that the MRS5 system was intended to control, not even the basic ballistics parameters seemed to be known with any accuracy at Borehamwood [1, 2]. But a replica of the historic vessel rests peacefully amid a Tahitian setting at the Vinoy Park Basin here and basks in the compliments tourists pay her. Bounty II was reconstructed from original drawings in the files of the British Admiralty by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer movie studio. After starring in the epic "Mutiny on the Bounty" the ship was brought here for permanent exhibit a 60,000 mile journey to the South Seas for the filming and promotional cruises. The original Bounty was a coastal trader named Bethia. The Navy of King George III selected her for Lt. William Bligh's mission to the South Seas in 1789. I looked at three different types of maritime sites; shipwreck, emergency weight dump, and salvage sites. I created standards of what should be in each of these sites to be compared to known shipwrecks, emergency weight dumps, and salvage site. The project involved a critical review of existing and historical data on cetacean stocks, and a compilation of data on E&P activities and non-industry factors that may have influenced stocks, in the areas of interest. Data were assessed in terms of quality, quantity, and temporal and spatial coverage to determine whether sufficient data were available for a reasonable assessment of correlations between cetacean populations and E&P activities.

    The Pandora Story Although reasonably successful in her challenging mission— capturing 14 of the 25 Bounty mutineers in Tahiti—HMS Pandora came to grief on the Great Barrier Reef. She was hulled on what’s now known as Pandora Reef, and sank in 30 metres of water, 120 km east of Cape York. Many died—crew and prisoners alike. But there were many more amazing feats of survival and seamanship. In this section, we explore the events surrounding the Pandora’s final voyage … Oswald Brett's impression of the Pandora's last moments afloat. Captain Bligh's remarkable story of survival The Bounty mutineers set Captain William Bligh adrift with 18 men in an eight-metre, two-masted launch. He had been allowed to take some navigational equipment and papers, and enough food to last for five days. The 19 castaways tried to supplement their rations with food from Tofua. All but one escaped with their lives following an attack by hostile Tofuans. Fearing to make another landfall, Bligh decided to head straight for Timor-about 3600 (nautical) miles (about 6480 km) away. "We had no relief with the day save its light. The sea was constantly breaking over us and kept two persons bailing, and we had no choice how to steer for we were obliged to keep before the waves to avoid filling the boat." A number of classifications of learning outcomes or objectives are well served by a teaching style employing the case approach. There seem to be as many different types of case study methods as there are writers on the subject. Perhaps the most useful typology of case methods, in part because of its simplicity, is that de-eloped by Gay Wakefield for the public relations field. Because of the clarity of character and issue development, the 1935 film version of "Mutiny on the Bounty" was chosen for use in a sophomore level course titled "Principles of Leadership." Using Wakefield's typology, the film is a case history which becomes a case analysis during class discussion. Almost all lf the topics that would be covered in a course in leadership are present in the film. The film meets the requirements of a good case as set out by other typologies of case studies.
