Joseph A. O’Donnell

Dear Proco Classmates,

As much as I wanted to join you, I just can’t make the trip from California. Nevertheless, I pray for all of you and your families. My bride, Martha, of 43 years and I have reared a son, Brendan, and twin girls, Anne and Colleen. All happily married, Praise the Lord, and each with a boy and girl of their own (and more to come I hope). Love being a grandfather as I am sure many of you do as well. Brendan and Anne live nearby while Colleen et al. are up in Seattle. At least it’s the same time zone and not a bad place to be when it’s over 100 degrees in Davis. I retired in 2012 from managing a research foundation for the California dairy industry (California has the largest milk production in the U.S. and in the world’s top 10– sorry Wisconsin). Martha promises to retire sometime in 2020 as a Professor of Physiology in the UC Davis Medical School.

A few years before retiring I went through diaconate formation and have been an ordained deacon since 2008. This has been a tremendous blessing delivering a strong sense of gratitude for all that God gives us. We all feel gratitude and we express it in ways that God offers every individual.

Health is curiously very good given my age. Ditto for Martha - the usual sore backs and what-have-you but otherwise all in one piece. I pray for your good health as well.

All the best to the Class of 1969 their families and our former Professors and the monks of the Abbey!

Gratefully,
