Usually performing solo, she also performs regularly in troupe acts, and trained in Jazz and Ballet throughout her early years and teens. In 2013 she was granted an O-1 ‘extraordinary ability’ visa for performance and modeling work in the United States and relocated to California permanently in March 2015, renewing the visa for another 3 years in 2016. Also a globally published model Miranda has appeared on the cover of dozens of magazines, is the face of Secrets in Lace lingerie and regualrly makes special appearances in catwalk shows and fashion events. She has worked regularly as a model host on Playboy TV and was invited to co host Theatre Bizarre in 2016. Burlesque has been metamorphosed through the occurrence of neo-burlesque as an attempt to stress newness into the old; that is to re-generate a nationalized theatrical sub/genre to an inter/nationalized cyber/spectacle which re/acts against the sociopolitical distresses of the twenty-first century. Initiated with the Yahoo Group along with a plethora of online groups and blogs which have sprung till then, the Internet manages to weave a nexus among producers, performers and fans inter/nationally. It has also enabled neo-burlesque to cross over the national borders and break those barriers which were formerly narrowed to mainly the U.S theatrical reality.     CURATORIAL PRACTICES IN MUSEUMS HOUSING FASHION AND DRESS COLLECTIONS IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE UNITED KINGDOM by JESSICA DREW SCHWARTZ (Under the Direction of José Blanco F.) ABSTRACT This study utilized in-depth interviews with curators of fashion and dress departments at large-scale museums in the United States and the United Kingdom to further explore the methods employed by curators of fashion and dress exhibitions. The objectives were to understand the various types of fashion and dress exhibitions and the goals of the curator responsible for the exhibitions; to understand the developmental process of dress and fashion exhibitions through the viewpoint of fashion and dress curators; and to understand the recent history of curatorial work within fashion and dress departments at various English and American museums. The collected data illustrates general themes concerning goals of the curators, research conducted for exhibitions, decisions concerning garments and mannequins, time frames for exhibition planning and methods of developing ideas for fashion and dress exhibitions.     Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones 24 February – 10 May 2009 Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones is a collaboration between the V&A and one of the world’s foremost hat designers, Stephen Jones. The exhibition will display more than 300 hats chosen with the expert eye of a milliner. On display will be hats ranging from an Egyptian Anubis mask dating from 600BC to a 1950s Balenciaga hat and couture creations by Jones and his contemporaries. To show the universal appeal and delight of wearing hats, Jones has included a wide variety of styles including top hats, berets and a child’s plastic tiara. Displayed in a magical, box-hedged, Baroque garden setting, Hats an Anthology will be the V&A’s first exhibition devoted to hats, with many pieces from its extensive hat collection on display for the first time. Inspiration , the first section of the exhibition, will open with Prince Albert’s top hat and Queen Victoria’s bonnet, and looks at how the past has inspired countless designers. It will show historic and contemporary interpretations of hat styles such as the tricorn, bowler, baseball cap, bonnet, skull cap and many more. It will also look at common themes explored by milliners such as exoticism, modernism and the natural world. Creation will show how hats are made and the traditions, innovations and practices at the heart of millinery. This area will be set up like a milliner’s workroom with patterns, sketches, materials and millinery blocks. The Salon will reflect the milliner’s public showcase, featuring spectacular hats that show the craft at its sartorial best.
