Reflection:- The Call to Service MASS TIMES: Sunday Holy Days Jesus was thirty years old when he began his public ministry. 8.30am, 10am (Irish) 6.30pm (Vigil), 9am 11.30am, 5.30pm 11.30am, 6.30pm How did he come to that decision and why did he wait so long to begin the real work of his life? The simple answer is: prior to this Saturdays Monday he wasn’t ready. Heritage Trail The Avonmore Way begins at Trooperstown car park, outside Laragh village. The trail quickly crosses the Avonmore River 12km / 3 hours / Moderate / linear (from the Irish, ‘Abhainn Mór’, meaning big river) which makes its way towards the lush wooded valley between Laragh and Rathdrum. At 430m high, Trooperstown Hill provides stunning views out over the Wicklow Mountains. The trail skirts the hill before descending into the picturesque Vale of Clara below and into some of the oldest woodland in Ireland. Towards the southern end of the trail, the impressive 19th century viaduct and striking neo-Gothic church provide visual clues to the historical importance of the picturesque town of Rathdrum. Avondale House and Forest Park is also easily accessible from the town. -

Any funeral scene is sad. But this one was particularly sad. It involved the death of a young man, the only son of his widowed mother. On seeing the sorrowing widow, Jesus was moved with compassion. He approached her and said ‘Do not cry.’ Then he restored the boy to life, and gave him back to his sorrowing mother. The raising of the young man was a mighty deed. We are told that those who witnessed it were filled with awe. They recognised that the hand of God was in it, and hailed Jesus as a great prophet. (No doubt the miracle reminded them of Elijah, who raised a young man from the dead, as we hear in the first reading). -
