The aim of the Study on the State of Cleaner Pro- duction in the MAP Countries is to gather informa- tion and analyse the current situation, with regard to the adoption and promotion of principles and strategies which give priority to pollution preven- tion at source and waste minimisation in the indus- tries of the Mediterranean Region. For this purpose, this study focuses on the agents operating in the Region, the legal framework and the plans and programmes that have been drawn up, along with the tools and activities introduced. This publication is a first edition: due to the charac- teristics of change and evolution inherent in the Re- gion and given that the study can be improved upon, the aim is that it be revised and updated in future editions.
