If it is based on evidence, so much the better; yet it analyses evidence rather than produces it. What it analyses can be the basis of the production of new evidence. Meanwhile we intend to inform the young scholars that RETELL has travelled quite a distance – from one of an in-house reading to an ISSN numbered multidisciplinary journal. Continuing on the editorial point of the Dec 2015 issue, the emerging success with Open access (OA) inevitably is the new model it portrays for scholarly publishing as against the conventional subscription-based system (SBS). Among the drawbacks of the SBS is the conflicts of interest created on payment for publication which could have a negative impact on the perceived neutrality of peer review, since there would be a financial incentive for journals to publish more articles. Both the access and the reuse of research data are unrestricted under OA. This is an issue of great value. For under the SBS publishers own the rights to the articles in their journals; anyone who wants to read the articles must pay to access them; and anyone who wants to use the articles in any way must obtain permission from the publisher with an additional fee. OA literature on the other hand is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyrights and licensing restrictions. Yet, OA is compatible with peer review, copyright, revenue, print, preservation, prestige, quality, career-advancement, indexing, and a host of other features and supportive services associated with conventional scholarly literature. OA postulates accelerated discovery, public enrichment and improved education - teachers and their students have access to the latest research findings throughout the world. However, OA may not be the last word on new modes of access to published results; but scholars’ benefits of research are derived principally from access to research results and their eventual dissemination. Melchias G Editor-in-Chief Epistle I take pride in releasing the April 2016 edition of RETELL and it brings joy to us and the scholars. I am proud of the young scholars who have contributed articles to this issue. Among a host of other things publication is an art of telling the world the arrival of the scholar on the world stage of research. We encourage them to cultivate the habit of writing; and writing scholarly is a notch higher than doing research. The college on its part has come forward to publish their articles free of charge. At this juncture, I must also thank the research advisors, who motivated and embellished the articles of their scholars. St. Joseph's can proudly boast that it has very good team of researchers in almost all the disciplines. I gratefully recollect the team work put in by Dr G. Melchias, Dean - School of Biological Sciences for his dedicated service in bringing out this journal.     Research Scholar ISSN 2320 – 6101 www.researchscholar.co.in An International Refereed e-Journal of Literary Explorations Impact Factor 0.998 (IIFS) REFLECTIONS ON ANTHARJANAM: AN INTERVIEW WITH TANUJA BHATTATHIRIPAD Allu Alfred Research Scholar University of Madras Chennai, Tamil Nadu Lalithambika Antharjanam was a prominent writer and a social reformer who recieved the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel Agnisakshi in 1977. She focused on the issues of Namboothiri women and worked towards their emancipation from archaic parctices within the community through her writing. The following is an interview with writer Tanuja Bhattathiripad, Antharjanam's grand daughter and a current writer in Malayalam on the life and times of her grandmother and the sweeping changes in the position of women in Kerala today: 1. Given your personal association with Lalithambika Antharjanam and your position as a member of the present day Namboothiri community, how do you think your grandmother's work affected the female members of the community? Where her works accessible to women at the time it was written and more importantly were the women allowed to read at the time? Did the Namboothiri women find a connection with her works or were they critical for speaking against age old coustoms? TB: I believe that my grandmother’s works have influenced the female members of the Namboothiri community to a large extent. I suppose I am an example in my generation, to the degree of influence her works have had. I consider that the relevance of her works have only increased with the passage of time.

Prof. AMBROSE M.C. Asst Professor of English Govt First Grade College - Puttur Dakshinakannada(Dt) Nadine Gordimer is South African woman novelist and as a remarkable Nobel Prize winner for literature in the field of South African Literature. Because of this lead to a literature of protesting inequality and discrimination under apartheid rather than a literature about African values: “Even at its most militant, black South African writing is basically liberal in lamenting the loss of an integrated multiracial society. In South Africa the socio-political life presents the kind of challenge that produces writers”1. As a native-born South African, Gordimer elected to stay in a country ruled by a single political party, whose policies shattered all her beliefs and feelings, and she experienced the consequences of that choice. Her ‘Anti-Apartheid’ tradition’s Socio-cultural, political and economical aspects are remarkable in the novel ‘My Son’s Story’. The specter of Anti-apartheid casts an unavoidable shadow over writers from white privileged society despite the breakdown of the political system of apartheid. The novel ‘My Son’s Story’ makes a shift in her focus from concern with the role of whites in a sharply polarized society to the experience of those on the other side of the colour bar and apartheid and anti apartheid traditions. Apartheid pervaded South African culture as well as its laws.

Swami Purnamritananda Puri lit the sacred lamp and inaugurated the programme. Sri. Sachidanandan, a Military Engineer and parent of a SEED volunteer, spoke about his passion for organic farming. It was an inspiring speech, highlighting the mental satisfaction that farming can give. Swamiji spoke about the role of organic farming in reducing various kinds of cancer. Samples of agricultural produce cultivated within the campus were displayed and many saplings were distributed. SEED volunteers are engaged in organic farming on 1500 sq. ft. land and on the college terrace. The school has won the Special Jury Award of SEED in Kerala for the year 2015.
