Th e city, which was established as a Greek colony at the end of the 8th century BC, had a colonial city status in the Roman Period. Parion did not lose its importance in the Byzantine Period and became one of the important episcopal centers of the region. As a result of the excavations carried out in the ancient city of Parion between 2006-2018, 53 Anonymous Folles were recovered. Within the scope of excavation, these coins were compared with the published samples of Anonymous Folles found in the Anatolian collections, museums and archaeological excavations by giving the variances according to the types and findings areas of Anonymous Folles and the variance of the type of these coins was seen to be in the same direction with the findings of the Anatolian archaeological excavations. All of the Anonymous Folles found in the archaeological excavations in Parion were discovered in the additions of the structures of Roman Era, which show that the usage of these structures continued even if they received functional changes by additions and restorations in the 10th and 11th centuries AD. It is one of the most important data supporting both the fact that the settlement continued there and the city did not lose its position as an important port city in the era the findings of the Anonymous Folles were minted, in Parion.

Walked around Istanbul, had dinner and beers at Restaurant, ready for being real Tourists tomorrow. 15/4/15 Early start, sourced a Turkcell phone, did tour of Blue Mosque, then onto Ayasofia (Hagia Sofia) Museum, then to Topkapi - Sultanahmet - an Ottoman castle, amazing buildings and artefacts, also had new Facebook photo taken here. Walked to a local restaurant, near hotel and had seafood. 16/4/15 - Early start as picked up by RSL Tours to do day tour to Gallipoli, the following was included • Beach Cemetery and the grave of John Simpson Kirkpatrick “the man with the donkey”. • Anzac Cove and the Anzac Commemorative Site at North Beach where the Dawn Service is held on Anzac Day every year. • Ari Burnu Cemetery, where the Dawn Service was held until 1999. • Spectacular views of the Australian Memorial at Lone Pine. • The Nek, where the tragic charge of the Light Horse took place. • The New Zealand Memorial at Chunuk Bair. • Visit the Turkish 57th Regiment Memorial. We had lunch at Escabat, and dinner on way home to hotel at a roadside service centre and got in at about 22:30, a big 17 hour day, very emotional and informational (included info from the Turkish side) for all of team.

    Uluslararası Geçmişten Günümüze Karabük ve Çevresinde Dini, İlmi ve Kültürel Hayat Sempozyumu SİKKE BULUNTULARI IŞIĞINDA HADRİANOUPOLİS KİLİSE C YAPISI Kasım OYARÇİN Özet Paphlagonia Hadrianoupolis’i olarak adlandırılan antik kent günümüz Karabük ili, Eskipazar ilçesi sınırları içerisindedir. Çalışma konusunu oluşturan, Hadrianoupolis antik kentinin şu ana kadar tanımlanmış 3 kilisesinden biri olan Kilise C olarak adlandırılan yapıda ilk kazı çalışmaları 2007 yılında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Başlangıçta yapının sadece apsis kısmı ortaya çıkarılmış, işlevinin kesin olarak belirlenememesi nedeniyle de “Apsisli Yapı” olarak adlandırılmıştır. 2017 ve 2018 yıllarında, yapının doğu ve kuzeydoğu yönlerinde kazı çalışması yapılmış ve yapının Erken Bizans Dönemi’ne tarihlenen bir kilise olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Kilise C’deki kazı çalışmaları sonucunda elde edilen kalıntılar ve buluntulardan yola çıkılarak kilisenin ilk olarak MS 5.-6. yüzyıllar arasında inşa edildiği düşünülmektedir. Arkeolojik verilerden yola çıkılarak bölgede veya yakın coğrafya da meydana gelen bir deprem veya istila nedeniyle yapının büyük tahribat gördüğü ve yeniden inşa edildiğine dair arkeolojik verilere de ulaşılmıştır. Bu arkeolojik verilerden önemli bir grubu da kazı çalışmaları sırasında ele geçen sikkeler oluşturmaktadır. En erkeni II. Constantius Dönemi’ne (MS 332-335) tarihlenen sikke buluntularının, Heraclius Dönemi’nde (MS 610-641) yoğunluk göstermesi yapının olasılıkla MS 7. yüzyılın ilk yarısının sonlarında büyük bir tahribat geçirdiğini düşündürmektedir. Çalışma kapsamında Hadrianoupolis Kilise C yapısı sikke buluntuları hakkında bilgi verilerek yapının tahribat evreleri hakkında diğer arkeolojik kalıntı ve buluntulardan da yararlanarak yeni öneri ve görüşler ortaya konacaktır.
