John has a Bachelors’ Degree in speech and is a Certified Hypnotherapist. A member of the Nation- al Speakers Association he has achieved their highest earned designation, CSP (Certified Speaking Professional). John is also a member of the famous Hollywood Magic Castle. He is an Eagle Scout and has been an active member of the Boys Scouts for over 50 years. Dr. Francesco Ferrini is a full professor in the Department of Agri-food Production and Environmental Science at the University of Florence in Italy. He is presently Dean of the School of Agriculture and Forestry of the University of Florence. From 2005 to 2011, Francesco served as the president of the Italian Society of Arboriculture, the ISA Italian Chapter. He was also a member of the former ISA Board of Directors prior to its structural change. Francesco has been involved with many ISA committees and believes that ISA’s role in urban forestry can only be successful if it relies on a partnership approach involving different levels of government and experts from different professions and various segments of both the public and private sectors. He also believes that ISA also has important educational tasks and that educational exchange needs to be promoted further. Francesco has spent all his professional life in the research and education sector at different universities in Italy. Francesco has published more than 240 scientific and technical papers which have been referenced internationally. In 2010, he was awarded ISA’s L.C. Chadwick Award for Arboricultural Research, which recognizes research that has contributed valuable informa- tion to arboriculture. Tip Tucker Kendall is the Director of Member Services at the International Society of Arboriculture. Tip a Tennessee native and is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, where she played softball and tennis. Adding to her repertoire, Kip obtained a Bachelor of Art degrees in both Political Science and History. 2 Featured Speakers Joe Boggs has over 28 years of Extension experience with Ohio State University, spe- cializing in tree and shrub diagnostics and pest management and has served as a state-wide spe- cialist. He averages over 100 teaching presentations per year and has published articles in the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) Magazine, Landsculptor (Michigan Green Industry Association), the Buckeye Arborist (Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association), the Society of Commercial Arboricul- ture Newsletter, and the Canadian Groundskeeper. He is a frequent contributor to the Buckeye Yard and Garden Line (BYGL) blog [bygl.osu.edu]. His weekly radio segment, “Buggy Joe Boggs Report,” runs from April through October on the Saturday morning show, “In the Garden with Ron Wilson,” (iHeartRadio: WKRC, Cincinnati; News Radio 610 WTVN, Columbus). The Cincinnati show is syn- dicated to 34 radio stations in 12 states. Graeme McMahon during the last forty years Graeme has worked as a climb- er in the Dandenong Ranges, east of Melbourne. In addition, he worked as hand faller in the Central Highlands felling alpine species for high production logging. A steady diet of large tree removals created a focus on the need for the pursuit of excellence in regard to skill acquisition and problem solving. Despite the mechanization for felling trees in logging operations Graeme is regularly called upon to conduct hand felling when harvesters are unable to operate and for “skyline” operations. As a mature age student Graeme achieved a Bachelor of Education with majors in Recreation and Bio- mechanics. This practical experience of removing large trees combined with his academic qualifica- tions make Graeme ideal as an expert witness and to present on a range of topics to the tree industry. Dr. Jason Grabosky currently serves as the John and Eleanor Kuser Faculty Scholar in Urban and Community Forestry for Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sci- ence (SEBS); coordinating the urban forestry programs. He also serves as Director of the SEBS Un- dergraduate General Honors Program and as Editor in Chief for the Journal Arboriculture and Urban Forestry. Currently, he also serves as Chair of the New Jersey Emerald Ash Borer Taskforce, a multi -agency group working to coordinate and address the needs of NJ Communities and state responses in the face of the invasive insect. Dr. Grabosky teaches several courses in the general area of tree biology and management, and maintains research in urban tree management, urban ecology and root-soil issues. Mark Chisholm is a third-generation arborist who works with his father Steve, mother Laura, and brother Steve for the family-owned Aspen Tree Expert Company. Mark has won the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) New Jersey Chapter Tree Climbing Championship for 21 years and is a past president of the chapter. He has conquered the wider tree-climbing world on three occasions, most recently in 2010. The ITCC in Tampa, FL 2015 marked the 20th time Mark has placed in the top 5 overall! He is the creator and owner of the interactive website TreeBuzz.com that sees over 80,000 users each month. He is a Licensed Tree Expert with the state of NJ, an ISA Certified Arborist and a TCIA CTSP. Mark is also a spokesperson for STIHL Inc, Teufelberger Fiber Rope Corporation and Kask Helmets. 3 Featured Speakers Rich Buckley is the Director of Rutgers Plant Diagnostic Laboratory. He received his BS in Entomology and Plant Pathology from the University of Delaware and an MS in Turfgrass Pathology from Rutgers University. Mr. Buckley is an instructor in the Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management School and Rutgers Department of Pathology and Plant Science. He teaches courses in diseases and insect pests of turfgrass and ornamental plants. He is also a frequent lecturer and invited speaker on disease and insect pest problems in turf and ornamentals, plant problem solving, and pest management techniques. Jay Maier is a business leader, communicator, arborist and a developer of people. He has been active in arboriculture since 1994. Jay is a 23-year veteran in the green industry, founded a tree service company in 2000. In 14 years, that business grew 10-fold to become a prominent player in Minnesota arboriculture. His greatest passion is developing leaders to be able to also win in their organizations. He is also an expert in arboriculture, holding a B.S. in Forestry from the Uni- versity of Missouri, and is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (#MN-0403B). Gary Lovallo LTE, CF, CA, CTSP, NJAF is Principle of Chestnut Arboricultural & Forest- ry Services LLC., located in Old Bridge, NJ and has been in the tree care industry and a consulting forester for 36 years. He has a B.S. in Natural Resource Management from Rutgers University, a NJ Licensed Tree Expert and NJ State Approved Forester, SAF Certified Forester, ISA Certified Arborist, & Certified Tree Safety Professional. Served as president of the NJ Society of Certified Tree Experts, and NJ Arborists Chapter of ISA, and the NJ Component Representative. He was appointed by the Governor to the NJ Board of Tree Experts and is a co-founder and Director of Training for the Commit- tee for the Advancement of Arboriculture. Has provided safety instruction to tree workers in private, municipal, county, and state and Federal agencies. Has worked as the utility Regional Forester, Su- perintendent of County Shade Tree Commission and consulting forester for several communities. Has completed numerous hazard tree surveys, written Community Forestry Management Plans, drafted tree removal ordinances upheld by the NJ Supreme court and served on the NJ Task force for model ordinance development and an advisor to the NJ Board of Public Utilities Vegetation Management Standards. Gary has testified in over 20 court and legislative proceedings and written various reports related to appraisals, tree hazards and tree related fatalities. Louis Hicks is a Certified Arborist and a Licensed Tree Expert, he is currently a Territory Manager for the Tree Care Products Division at Morbark, LLC, has more than 15 years in the tree care industry.
