B., and appears irregularly. The journal publishes information relevant 10 Norwegian entomology and emphasizes papers which are mainly faunistical or zoogeographical in scope or content, including catalogues, distribution maps, checklists and larger faunallists. Biographies and bibliographies elc will also be considered. Submissions must nol have been previously published or copyrighted and must not be published subsequently except in abstract form or by written consent of the editors Authors are requested to contacl the editors prior to submission. The Norvegian Entomological Society promotes the study of the Norwegian insect fauna and forms a link between interested persons. Questions about membership should be directed 10 the secretary of NEF, Jan Stensl0kk, Box 386, N·400 1 Stavanger. A bibliography of Norwegian mayfly, damselfly, dragonfly and stonefly publications (Insecta: Ephemeroptera; Odonata; Plecoptera) 1882 - 1993. Insecta norvegise 6, 1 - 109 The bibliography contains 619 entries, covering the period 1882 to 1993. The main criteria for including material are that the actual insect order(s) make(s) up a con siderable part of the content; and a connection to Norway by author, publisher andl or subject. The bibliography has a systematic- and a geographical index. I. Stokkeland, Gneisvn. 64, N-9022 Kroken, Norway INTRODUCTION This bibliography includes written publications dealing with mayflies (Ephemeroptera). damselflies/dragonflies (Odonata) and stoneflies (Plecoptera). Two main criteria for selecting material for inclusion are used: -1. The insect orders must make up a considerable part of the document's content. -2. The document must either have at least one Norwegian author, or deal with Norwegian insects, or be published in Norway. The earliest paper meeting these criteria was published in 1882. As much as 45% of the total entries are published in the 1980's. As for foreign scientists who have settled in Norway, I have also included documents written before migration. Technically, the entries range from popular magazine articles to doctoral dissertations. No linguistic criteria have been set. Excluded are: - Articles in newspapers (unless discovered by chance) - Audiovisual material - Articles in encyclopedias and general textbooks Within these limits I have tried to make the bibliography as complete as possible. The bibliography is arranged alphabetically by first author, and each entry is given a serial number. For each author entries are arranged chronologi cally. References are given from co-authors to the main entries. Anony mous documents are listed at the end of the bibliography. An asterisk (*) after the serial number indicates that I have not been able to see the document myself, thus the indexing will be incomplete. The bibliography is unannotated, except for notes on academic theses, on language and on papers from symposiums etc. There are two indexes: a systematic index to species level and a geo graphical index. Genera that are not represented in Scandinavia, are not listed in the systematic index. Documents that (also) deal with an order or a family in general, are only listed under the higher taxon. In the geo graphical index the notations of Norwegian provinces follow Strand's system as revised by 0kland (1981). ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The compilation of this bibliography was made possible through a grant from The Norwegian Ministry of Culture. Thanks are due to The Norwegian Entomological Society for support, and to numerous libraries in Norway and abroad for invaluable help. Thanks are also due to Tor Sveum, Troms0, for giving me access to the library at Troms0 Museum, to Trond Andersen and Uta Greve Jensen, Bergen, for valuable help with editing and layout, and to Geir J0rgensen, Kval0ya, for providing me with a computer.
