Malayan Railways (KTMB) seek expert solutions at 8th and 9th International Railway Summits

London 13 June 2019 Malayan Railways ( Berhad (KTMB)), ’s main passenger and freight rail operator, will receive free consultations from global technical experts for their current and future projects at the 8th and 9th International Railway Summits. Mahendran Suppiah, General Manager Rail Operations, will represent KTMB. IRS8 will take place from 20-22 November 2019 in New Delhi, the first time the event will be held in India. IRS9 will take place from 19-21 February 2020 in Warsaw, Poland.

Established over 130 years ago, KTMB operates three principle services for Malaysia’s citizens and businesses: Intercity, including the KTM ETS “Green Train”, which is able to generate electricity for the grid through braking that can be used by other trains; hundreds of local commuter services per day covering most of the peninsula; freight forwarding connecting the country’s ports, including the longest single-locomotive cargo train in South East Asia.

The network’s major lines are the West Coast Line, running from close to the Malaysia- Border at to Woodlands Train Checkpoint in , via KL Sentral in , and the East Coast Line, which serves the states of Kelantan and Pahang, crossing deep jungle and terminating at Tumpat on the South China Sea. Subang Skypark Komuter began operation in 2018 connecting KL Sentral to Skypark Terminal of Subang Airport. KTMB are committed to increase links with neighbouring countries and integrate the Malaysian network with the One Belt One Road initiative.
