June 2, 2021 The Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League are searching for a qualified individual to fill the role of Athletic Therapist. As the Athletic Therapist, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself within the storied 55+ year history of the Brandon Wheat Kings. As three-time Western Hockey League Champions, the Wheat Kings boast an impressive resume of players and staff that have gone on to do great things within the world of hockey, including former Therapists / Equipment Managers Roman Kaszczij (Utica Comets – AHL), Darren Granger (LA Kings – NHL) and Craig Heisinger (Winnipeg Jets – NHL). Reporting directly to the Head Coach and General Manager, the incumbent will be required to: -Provide medical coverage for all games and practices. -Co-ordinate daily treatment sessions for the players. -Co-ordinate visits with alternative medical professionals, as needed. -Collaborate with the hockey staff regarding player availability and status. -Provide long term injury rehabilitation as needed. -Maintain accurate injury records, as per Hockey Canada Standards. -Assist the Equipment Manager with daily setup and other tasks, as needed. -Develop and manage the medical and weight room inventories. -Be present at all Wheat King team events, including Prospects Camp, Hockey School Sportsman’s Dinner and Training Camp. Necessary certifications / qualifications -Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(c) – Canadian Athletic Therapists Association -Additional certifications in Registered Massage Therapy, or other manual therapies is an asset but is not required. -Prior experience working within a sports organization.
