Subaru and Travis Pastrana Capture Third Consecutive Rally Win to Open 2021 Season
Subaru Of America, Inc. Pastrana and Subaru teammate Brandon Semenuk now sit first and third in the season standings with three rounds of the nine-event calendar complete. “Great weekend here in Washington!” said Pastrana after the event. “We came in looking for a podium to keep us in good position in the standings and ended up coming away with a win—sometimes it’s about being in the right place at the right time. These roads are amazing and Brandon was really on it, great to have Ken Block back in the fight too. Rhi and I were happy to get the points and take a solid lead in the championship with six rounds to go!” A favorite of drivers and fans alike, Olympus Rally is notorious for rain, fast-changing road conditions, and some of the most scenic and challenging stages on the American calendar. With defending champion Barry McKenna and his Ford Fiesta WRC unfortunately sidelined due to a family issue, the fight for Open Class honors was between the two blue and gold Subaru Motorsports USA entries of Pastrana and Semenuk and the newly debuted #43 Hoonigan Racing Division WRX STI of Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino. -

Audi Driver Ekström on Podium After Pouring Rain
Audi MediaInfo Motorsport Communications Virginia Brusch Phone: +49 841 89-41753 E-mail: [email protected] www.audi -mediacenter.com/en Audi driver Ekström on podium after pouring rain • FIA World Rallycross Champion Mattias Ekström finishes third in Lohéac • Audi DTM driver Nico Müller celebrates impressive rallycross debut Lohéac/Neuburg, September 3, 2017 – Mattias Ekström is back on the road to success in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. At the ninth round in Lohéac, the reigning World Champion finished third – the first podium result since his victory in Hockenheim last May. In front of 75,000 spectators, the Swede was only beaten in the final by his countryman Johan Kristoffersson and the French local matador Sébastien Loeb. In the overall standings, Ekström is third behind Kristoffersson and his team mate Petter Solberg – also like EKS in the team classification. Following heavy rain, the final race in Brittany became a mud festival featuring many overtaking moves. “Saturday sun and Sunday rather more swimming and sliding, a varied weekend,” confirmed Ekström. “I’m actually quite satisfied with my third place, but I’m a little annoyed because we weren’t so far from the front. In the dry and in the rain we were just missing a tiny bit, but we can certainly build on the performance.” In Lohéac, Ekström’s team mates Reinis Nitišs and Toomas Heikkinen once again made the semi- final races for the twelve fastest drivers, but drew the short straw at this stage. “After contact with Andreas Bakkerud my wipers stopped working, from there on I was running blind,” summarized Nitišs and added: “I’m disappointed with the result because it doesn’t show our real performance.” Heikkinen missed the final after a collision with Ken Block. -
