From the very beginning, Alfa Romeo has built automobiles with a passion for design and performance earning its place as a motorsport legend and a symbol of Italian craftsmanship and elegance. A unique blend of essential lines, perfect proportions and bold, dynamic spirit has given birth to cars that could not have been created anywhere else, by anyone else. This unparalleled approach to design has become a worldwide archetype of Italian style and has enlisted passionate “Alfisti” to the brand all over the world. The following pages will reveal some of the key ideas and concepts that set Alfa Romeo’s design apart, and will offer a glimpse into the influences that have shaped the minds and hearts of the designers, modelers and sculptors who work at Centro Stile (Design Center) in Turin. These are the people who, inspired by the richness of Italian art and design as well as the brand’s unique heritage, are creating the Alfa Romeo vehicles of tomorrow.

  • EN3. Museo Dell'automobile Tra Storia E Innovazione
MUSEO NAZIONALE DELL’AUTOMOBILE DI TORINO: BETWEEN HISTORY AND INNOVATION 30 new areas to tell the story of a symbol: from a means of transport to a cult object The story of automobiles is not only the story of a means of transport, but the events and the chronicles of nations are also narrated through it; the great events of Europe in the XX century and above all the transformations of society and of culture . What would Futurism be without its symbol of progress and modernity? The manifesto of movement states that “A roaring car that seems to ride on grapeshot is more beautiful than the Victory of Samothrace”. How can we fail to consider the increase of the diffusion of the internal combustion engine, which took place during the First World War? And can we ignore the Volkswagen van which became the universal symbol of freedom and unconventionality of “hippies” in the 60s and 70s? The lasting connection between the story of automobiles and the story of our society and culture is represented by Torino’s Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile through 30 sections that cover over 9,000 square metres. These are broken down into a room repartition that precisely define different topics and specific historical periods. This provides visitors with a clear narrative itinerary, expressed by titles and settings, from the origins to nowadays. The journey starts on the second floor by the GENESI (Genesis) section; a homage to all the forerunners who, during the last five centuries, have been looking for a way to move and carry things and people without the help of animals.

  • Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio Brochure
Inspired by the immensity and grandeur of the Stelvio Pass, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio excels in terms of power, dynamic performance and handling capabilities – satisfying the most demanding driver. It is the very first Quadrifoglio that is also an SUV, embodying “La Meccanica delle Emozioni” through and through. To prepare for the legendary Targa Florio race through the mountains of Sicily, Sivocci painted a white square with a “Quadrifoglio,” on the front of his Alfa Romeo RL Targa Florio. As luck would have it, he finished in first place. Weeks later, Sivocci was track-testing a new car that did not yet bear his lucky symbol. Tragically, he crashed and lost his life. This marked the beginning of a tradition: all future Alfa Romeo race cars would bear the four-leaf clover on a white triangle instead of a square, with the missing corner symbolising the loss of Sivocci. Today, Sivocci’s clover remains a symbol of race-worthy capabilities and, of course, a symbol of good luck. No wonder it is placed front and centre on the 2.9 Bi-Turbo V6 aluminium engine of the powerful Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
