Musical program at Babrala: Founder’s Day celebration started in Babrala from 1st February onwards with the chief guest encouraging the participants to participate in large numbers for all the events. Throughout the month various games and events for township ladies, kids, employees and contractors were organized. In all there were 49 games ranging from slow cycle race to relay race, marathon to baby show, march past to trust walk. More than 300 employees and 150 township women participated in the events conducted throughout the month. Some participants have even broken the records of previous years and were rewarded cash prize for the same. TCSRD team has also conducted various events for the community kids in the nearby village.

On 3rd March, the day started with paying homage to JN Tata at the Plant entrance. Main event started with march past followed by torch relay and some fun events for the couples. MDP IX – Module I

MDP IX – Module I was held at Babrala from 13-18 April, 2015 with 23 participants selected through Online SJSE Pan and the highlight for this MDP edition is that it includes 4 participants from TCL Magadi, Kenya.

The module as per its tradition, included sessions like Personal & Interpersonal Effectiveness (PIPE), Strategy, Financial Management and a Business Simulation. Participants were thrilled with Babrala Plant visit on the last day and Leadership talks from Mr. P K Ghose and Mr. R Nanda.

The bonding between participants was amazing throughout especially with colleagues from Kenya and is evident from the pictures. They are keenly looking forward for the next module in June, 2015 at IIM, Kashipur.

CNAB Jagruti – Wave 2 at Agra and Pune

”Jagruti ” was launched and deployed for entire sales workforce covering all regions starting last financial year. It aimed at capability development of the team and at equipping them for leading the market categories by creating a differential pull towards our brands by enhancing the retail and service competencies.

Jagruti-2 has also been designed in a way that it will aid in development of both the individual and company by keeping our focus on customer excellence by addressing to our commitment of staying close to our customers, staying relevant to their needs as well as serving them. By staying close we mean that we will be able understand the unique needs of our customers and delight them by our services.

Annual R&R Program @– CPB

CPB (FMCG and WaPu) celebrated the achievements of team members in the year 2014-15 in the city of Lakes, Udaipur in the month of April, 2015. The awards were given in the categories of Agility, Passion for Customer Centricity, Collaboration, Pioneering Spirit, Proactive Cost Focus and Excellence. In total 14 individuals and 6 teams were recognized for their stupendous contributions. During the event, the achievers for the Jan-Mar, 2015 Quarter were also recognized. A total of 5 individuals and 6 teams were awarded for significant achievements in the quarter. The quarterly awards are based on nominations by individuals for self or any team members which is evaluated by a cross-functional team as well as by the respective HOD and recommended for achievement. The annual awards are based on recommendations by HODs and achievements and discussed and deliberated by the SBU council members and recommended for recognition. CPB also has a monthly recognition scheme.

The Chemicals Non Site Teams had a two day SDM Workshop in the month of February 2015 at Holiday Inn Hotel in Mumbai. Along with the workshop, 12 team members were recognized for their contributions as part of the Annual Reward & Recognition program.

IC Offsite at Kochi

Innovation Centre conducted a Goal Setting and Way Forward Session for FY 16 at Kochi with all employees. Day 1 was organized on a boat and the team discussed ways of working for IC and 5 focus areas for the year – Reward & Recognition, a new initiative on Positive Behaviour Cards, Competency and Capability Development plans, and Project-Resource Management. On Day 2, goal setting & action planning sessions were conducted along with team exercises on 7 identified culture mainstays.

During the offsite, IC launched its unique Reward and Recognition program being branded as Laureate with innovative awards catering to the scientific fraternity of IC. Laureate aims to appreciate and reward individual and team contribution and is divided into Annual, Quarterly, Monthly, On the Spot awards. The Laureate award Employee of the Month are to be awarded through a unique Self Nomination process.

CPB conducts Sales Training program for SC/ST youth

In view of increasing the employability – skill set and employment of SC/ST youth, Consumer Product Business came up with an intensive Sales Training program targeted at SC/ST youth. 4 batches from Mumbai, Patna, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru covering 100 youth have successfully completed the training and a batch of 100 drawn from all the four southern states is undergoing an extensive the sales training in Bengaluru. The curriculum has been designed to reduce class room training, increase OJT, introduce sessions on product training and computer proficiency, a 3-day achievement motivation workshop and a performance based (gold/silver/bronze) certification process has been added.

As a result of the training not only the employability of SC/ST youth has improved, but the training also resulted in a 7-8% increase of SC/ST youth in the 3rd Party sales workforce. Around 124 youth trained have received job offers, either with Tata Chemicals or other FMCG companies, with starting salaries ranging from Rs 10,000 – Rs 20,000.

Going forward, it is proposed to focus the training further: to train them for the dedicated role of a sales man with stockists. Also, the target of SC/ST youth in third party employment is upped from 8-10% to 10-12%

TCL was recognized at the TAAP Convention for this initiative this year.

Achievement Motivation Training at Babrala

AMT is program based on the David McClelland Model of Achievement Orientation, which seeks to sensitize learners to the theme of achievement. The purpose of this program is to facilitate the learner to become sensitized to achievement as a way of life, away from task way of life. This year, Babrala hosted one session of AMT facilitated by a veteran in conducting this program, OD consultant, trainer and counsellor Shri Rameshji Galohda. Mr. Mukesh Babu Solanki, an internal faculty for this program acted as a co-faculty for various sessions. This program ran for 3 days covering 19 participants.

About Haldia Plant

Haldia Plant is a multi-product, multi-technology site spread over 185 acres with a capacity of over 1.2 MTPA. The site was commissioned in 1979 by Hindustan Lever Limited with a Sulphuric Acid Plant, Phosphatic Plant and a Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) Plant. In 1984, the Di- Ammonium Phosphate (DAP – a phosphatic fertilizer) plant was commissioned. And in 1999, the second train of DAP, Sulphuric Acid Plant and a new Single Super Phosphate Plant (SSP) was constructed. Almost 90% of the raw materials required for running the plant are imported.

Tata Chemicals took over the Haldia plant from HUL and the integration was completed in 2004. Fertilizer products of Haldia are branded as Tata PARAS which is established as the most preferred Fertilizer brand in the market. The introduction of NP 20:20:0:13 makes a good case of team agility where the manufacturing team got together to make a new product and the sales team took it to the market in a manner and speed that in the first year of its introduction, the brand has been able to command a premium. The two complex fertilizer plants, DAP & NPK are now being renamed as Complex Phosphatic Fertilizers – CPF in view of integrating the phosphatic fertilizer product portfolio of Haldia.

Haldia is a city and a municipality in Purba Medinipur in the Indian state of . Mahishadal - Mahishadal is a small town known for its ancient temples and monuments built during 16th century. It is half an hour drive from Haldia. An excellent weekend getaway for local as well as domestic tourists, it is often sought by movie makers in the country. Mahishadal is the right place to taste delectable Bengali mihidana and chhanar murki.

Mahishadal Rajbari Estate is one of the finest tourist places in West Bengal. The Estate has heritage sites including structures and temples spread across the place. There are two magnificent palaces built in 1840 AD and 1937 AD.

Tamluk - is the district headquarters of . The present town is located on the banks of the Rupnarayan River close to the Bay of Bengal. There is a nearly 1150 year old Temple of Kali named Devi Barghobhima. This temple is a part of 51 shakti Peethas. Puranas say that the small finger of left feet of Sati/Parvati fell here when Lord Vishnu cut the sacred Body of Goddess Sati into several pieces to make Lord Shiva quite.

Milind Gajjar from Mithapur shares his experience on participating in Stepathlon

In everyday life to spare time for walking, cycling or yoga becomes difficult. Before Stepathlon commenced, I weighed 79 kg. With Stepathlon, I was able to reduce my weight by 4 KG. My target is to reduce and come down to 70 kg. Stepathlon has induced in me habit of regular walking, yoga and have changed my food habits which now includes more of fruits and vegetables. This has made me more energetic and am able to spend more quality time with my family.

Pradnya Aher talks on being the First Employee of the Month at IC

“When I heard my name for first employee of the month award, I was totally astonished! It was exciting to become an “Employee of the month” that too the first one. It was unexpected for me because the award was based on self-nomination. Initially, I was hesitant to give my nomination but then I thought I deserved recognition for my innovative work and submitted my entry. And, my diligence paid off – I am thrilled to be the Employee of the Month and happy that my work got recognised.

Yes We Can – Self Defence training at Babrala

In the second round of Women Safety Programs, Babrala team organised a one day workshop on “Yes We Can” at School for female students and teachers of TCL - DAV.

The workshops was designed to help the participants graduate from a ‘No’ to ‘Know’. There was a perfect mix of Soft skills followed by Hard skills to prepare the minds of the participants to face any adverse situation along with providing physical risk solutions. Program aimed at providing a complete solution to all issues pertaining to "Self Protection" while focusing on threats from various ranges and providing a solution to all possible risk situations. IC Positive Behaviour Cards

With an aim to emphasize praise and recognition for positive behaviour, and foster positivity and enthusiasm in the workplace, IC launched a special Positive Behaviour Card initiative build on the principle that highlighting desired behaviour will result in such behaviour becoming the norm. The initiative targets 6 behaviours viz., Live Wire, Passion, Collaboration, IC Citizen, Customer First and Ownership.

Women’s Day Celebration

Tata Chemicals Mithapur club celebrates “Club Fest – 2015” with full of joy and enthusiasm. The week was started from 11th April with dance competition and it was ended on 18th April2015 with Jugal Bandhi of Sur, Saaz & Taal. Within week various events organized i.e. singing, dance, antakshari, party games, quiz etc.

Healthy, Wealthy & Wise – STEPATHLON

After a neck to neck competition between teams Champ Boys of Babrala and Khatron Ke Khiladi (Babrala) during the race, Team Khatron Ke Khiladi emerged as the top team amongst all teams from TCL. They have clocked 2.3 Crore steps covering a distance of 14744 kms and burning 9.7 lakh calories. They are also placed 14 globally. The top team globally covered 17441 kms. Congratulations to Khemesh Kumar ( C ), Pankaj Mohakud, Udai Singh Sisodia, Awadh Narayan Pandey and Vandana Kamboj.

Following them very closely are team Champ Boys of Babrala. They finished 18 globally by clocking 2.2 Crore steps covering 14391 kms and burning 9.47 lakh calories. Congratulations to Ranjeet Mourya ( C ), Prabhat Kumar Pancholi, Mahesh Chandra, Sandeep Kumar Patel, Janardan Prasad.

Teams Tata Chemicals 8 (Mithapur, 1.98 Crore steps), Tata Chemicals 10 (Mithapur, 1.74 crore steps) and Safety Pros of Mithapur (1.38 Crore steps) finish as other top 3 teams.

Collectively the teams have walked more than 254989 kms which means collectively the 44 teams have traversed 70% of the distance from the earth to the moon.

At the end of the race 159 out of 220 participants fall under the “highly active” category. A highly active participant is one who clocks an average of 12500 steps each day.

At an individual level Dhiren Maher (Mithapur) has walked the maximum number of steps (56 lakh steps). He is followed by Pankaj Mohakud (Babrala, 49.9 Lakh steps), Udai Singh Sisodia (Babrala, 48.8 lakh steps), Ranjeet Mourya (Babrala, 48.7 lakh steps) and Prabhat Pankaj Pancholi (Babrala, 48.27 lakh steps).
