Policy Grafton Police Department 1034 Policy Manual Line-of-Duty Deaths 1034.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to members of the Grafton Police Department in the event of the death of a member occurring in the line of duty and to direct the Department in providing proper support for the member’s survivors. The Chief of Police may also apply some or all of this policy in situations where members are injured in the line of duty and the injuries are life-threatening. 1034.1.1 DEFINITIONS Definitions related to this policy include: Line-of-duty death - The death of a sworn member during the course of performing law enforcement-related functions while on- or off-duty, or a Civilian member during the course of performing their assigned duties. Survivors - Immediate family members of the deceased member, which can include spouse, children, parents, other next of kin or significant others. The determination of who should be considered a survivor for purposes of this policy should be made on a case-by-case basis given the individual’s relationship with the member and whether the individual was previously designated by the deceased member. 1034.2 POLICY It is the policy of the Grafton Police Department to make appropriate notifications and to provide assistance and support to survivors and coworkers of a member who becomes seriously injured or dies in the line of duty. It is also the policy of this department to respect the requests of the survivors when they conflict with these guidelines, as appropriate. -

Set in the 'City of Brotherly Love' in the early s it is chock full of homophobia, casual racism and sexism. Which is about spot on for Philly in the 70s. My appreciation is rooted firmly in personal ties Mickey's mother is a member of Good Shepherd Church, where I made my first holy communion and confirmation. Special Operations is the second entry in W. Griffin's Badge of Honor series and the sequel to Men in Blue. The series focuses on the Philadelphia Police Department. Almost simultaneously, however, there was also #JeNeSuisPasCharlie explicitly countering the former, affirmative hashtag. Based on a multimethod analysis of 74,047 tweets containing #JeNeSuisPasCharlie posted between 7 and 11 January, this article reveals that users of the hashtag under study employed various discursive strategies and tactics to challenge the mainstream framing of the shooting as the universal value of freedom of expression being threatened by religious extremism, while protecting themselves from the risk of being viewed as disrespecting victims or endorsing the violence committed. The significance of this study is twofold. First, it extends the literature on strategic speech acts by examining how such acts take place in a social media context. Second, it highlights the need for a multidimensional and reflective methodology when dealing with data mined from social media. Best known for his Matthew Scudder and Bernie Rhodenbarr series, Block has released dozens of pop- ular works through Harper Collins and Dutton among other mainstream publishers. He has received multiple Edgar Awards and Anthony Awards for outstanding fi ction, and his lifetime achievement honors include the Diamond Dagger from the British Crime Writers’ Association and Grand Master status in the Mystery Writers of America. But he has also completed dozens of works under other names, by publishers and publications long since forgotten, and, in some cases, of questionable legality. More recently, he has been publish- ing the books himself, includ- ing “Dead Girl Blues” and the Rhodenbarr novel “The Bur- glar In Short Order,” which both came out in 2020, and his current work, the memoir “A Writer Prepares.” “One big plus of self-pub- lishing is how quickly it can be managed. All Title IV aid awarded to such eligible students must be based on an EFC of zero without regard to the student’s calculated EFC. To qualify for this scholarship, a student must be Pell-eligible and have a Pell-eligible EFC (up to 5486 for the 2018-2019 award year), and be less than 24 years of age or enrolled at an institution of higher education at the time of his or her parent’s or guardian’s death. In subsequent award years, the student continues to be eligible for the scholarship, as long as the student has a Pell-eligible EFC and continues to be an eligible student. For purposes of the Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship, a public safety officer is: • As defined in section 1204 of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3796b); or • A fire police officer, defined as an individual who is serving in accordance with State or local law as an officially recognized or designated member of a legally organized public safety agency and provides scene security or directs traffic in response to any fire drill, fire call, or other fire, rescue, or police emergency, or at a planned special event. -

Not only that, it is the most important. One of the most memorable story arcs from The Wire’s five seasons is the rise and fall of Hamsterdam—a quasi-legalized drug zone in West Baltimore. Stories are powerful teaching tools because they marry information and context. By seeing how the application of law affects characters we know and care about, we become more attune to the potential effects of legal decisions in the real world. The story of Hamsterdam—which is essentially an attempt to transform a black market into a fringe market—presents just such an opportunity. When considering the various dimensions of the fringe economy, life in Hamsterdam imparts three critical insights: (1) Markets arise wherever there exists market demand.
