BE IT ENACTED by the High Commissioner for Palestine, with the advice of the Advisory Council thereof :— 1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Salt (Amendment) Ordi• Short title. nance, 1936, and the Salt Ordinance, 1925, (hereinafter referred to No. 36 of 1925. as the principal Ordinance) the Salt (Amendment) Ordinance, 1927, No. 38 of 1927. the Salt (Amendment) Ordinance, 1933, and this Ordinance may No. 51 of 1933. together be cited as the Salt Ordinances, 1925-1936. 2. The inaugural meeting was held in the Binyanei Ha'umah in the presence of the President of the State and Mrs. Shazar, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Knesset, Cabinet Ministers, the Chief Justice, Judges of the Supreme Court, the State Comptroller, visitors from abroad, public dignitaries and a large and representative gathering which filled the entire hall. The meeting was opened by Mr. Jacob Tsur, Chair- man of the Zionist General Council, who paid homage to Israel's Nobel Prize Laureate, the writer S.Y, Agnon, and read the message Mr. Agnon had sent to the gathering. Mr. Tsur also congratulated the poetess and writer, Nellie Zaks. The speaker then went on to discuss the gravity of the time for both the State of Israel and the Zionist Move- ment, and called upon citizens in this country and Zionists throughout the world to stand shoulder to shoulder to over- come the crisis. Professor Andre Chouraqui, Deputy Mayor of the City of Jerusalem, welcomed the delegates on behalf of the City.

The conference will bring together scientists, medical experts and engineers from universities, hospitals and research centers, covering a wide range of disciplines in the broad field of Nuclear Science. The conference will provide a timely bridge between the past fifty years (on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the IAEC) and the next 50 years in the new millennium. Like the 23rd and 24th Congresses it was held in the National Conventions Building. The ceremonial Inaugural Session was held on Tuesday, December 27, 1960, at 8.45 in the evening in the presence of a large and dis- tinguished gathering, numbering more than three thousand, and in- eluding the President, the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, the Acting Chairman of the Zionist General Council, the Speaker and Deputy- Speakers of the Knesset, the Chief Justice and Judges of the Supreme Court, Rabbi Yitzchak Nissim, the Mayor and City Councillors of Jerusalem, and veteran members of the Zionist Movement.
