East Atlanta Village Placemaking Survey Results We EAV HEART AND SOUL Live Here.

Every Village has a town square, a social gathering space that acts as the heart and soul of the community. Through observation of pedestrian movements, where people gather, the location of special events, built form and how the neighborhood has grown over time, the intersection of Glenwood and Flat Shoals Ave emerges as a central location. Looking at the urban form (above), a compass-like shape is revealed, a suitable metaphor for the EAV placemaking project; setting an aspirational direction for the future whilst also pointing to what’s behind us and where we’ve come.

With this in mind and building off the survey responses, we seek to transform this space from a vehicle orientated space to a place that represents and supports the shared aspirations for EAV.
