He recollected the crucial role played by the Squadron in Operation Cactus in Maldives, where fleeing mercenaries were detected and tracked till they were apprehended by Indian warships. The Admiral also mentioned the maiden participation by TU’s as the first Indian Naval Aircraft in the Republic Day flypast at New Delhi on 26 Jan 1999. He also acknowledged the professionalism of the pilots, the maintainers and all those personnel associated with flying and maintaining the aircraft in peak efficiency during their service. Spectators were treated to a dazzling display of aviation expertise from some of the most talented pilots and aerobatic display teams from across Ireland and Europe. The Irish Air Corps opened the show, followed by the Royal Jordanian Falcons flying four Extra-300 L aircraft, headliners of today’s display. A professional national aerobatic team formed in 1976, the Royal Jordanian Falcons have an international reputation for precision, professionalism and spectacular performance. Peter Kearney, Chief Executive of the Irish Aviation Authority said, “Today was a wonderful start to the IAA’s #AviationIreland weekend of spectacular air displays in Bray and Foynes, Co. Limerick. Tomorrow’s line- up at Bray will be really exciting as well and a great chance to enjoy a wealth of aviation talent on display.” Other display highlights included a Catalina Flying Boat celebrating her 75th birthday and a beautiful vintage Aer Lingus aircraft, the DC-3, popular in the 1940s and 50s. Irish aviation was also celebrated at the event with The Irish Air Corps, the Irish Historic Flight Foundation, the Irish Coast Guard Search and Rescue, and the Garda Support Unit helicopter participating for the first time.

    Tue, 09 July 2019 DRDO successfully tests armour-piercing Nag Missiles at Pokhran range The Defence Acquisition Council in 2018 had approved the procurement of DRDO designed and developed NAG Missile System (NAMIS) at a cost of Rs 524 crore New Delhi: Moving closer toward the induction of the Nag anti-tank guided missiles into the Army, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Sunday carried out three successful test firings of the missiles in the Pokhran firing ranges. "The missiles were test-fired during both day and night on Sunday during the trials. All three tests were successful," DRDO officials said. Government sources said the missile is in the final stages of being inducted into the Army which will use it by mounting them on modified armoured vehicles. The Defence Acquisition Council in 2018 had approved the procurement of DRDO-designed- and-developed NAG Missile System (NAMIS) at a cost of Rs 524 crore. The system includes a third-generation Anti-Tank Guided Missile, the NAG, along with the Missile Carrier Vehicle (NAMICA). The NAG missile is a third-generation anti-tank guided missile, which has top attack capabilities that can effectively engage and destroy all known enemy tanks during both day and night operations. The successful induction of NAG missile into the Army is expected to give a quantum boost to the Army's capability against enemy armour. NAG was one of the first five strategic missiles planned to be developed under the Integrated Missile Development Programme initiated in the 1980s. The other missiles developed under the project include Agni, Prithvi and Akash, and all three have been successfully developed and inducted into the armed forces.

Over 100 odd veterans mingled with the squadron crew, greeted each other, reminisced of operations over fifty years, with two different aircraft types four different specialisations (Anti-Submarine Warfare, Maritime Reconnaissance, Information Warfare, Para Dropping) and an operational area that had spanned from Mediterranean Sea to the Pacific, Jammu and Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Rajasthan to Bangladesh. The celebrations started with the traditional Cake cutting and Bara Khana while INS Hansa put up an impressive air display on the occasion. The occasion was also marked with the IN sky diving team launching itself from the squadron's Para Dornier. Later in the evening a special cover and a coffee table book were released by Shri Digambar Kamat Chief Minister of Goa, in the presence of Admiral Nirmal Verma, the Chief of Naval Staff. The squadron is also hosting an International Seminar on 'Airborne Maritime Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR)” on 22 Mar 11. INAS 310 was commissioned on 21 Mar 1961 in Heyres, France by Lt Cdr Mihir K Roy (later Vice Admiral). A unique privilege as the commissioning was on a French Aircraft carrier 'Arromanches', unusual as the squadron was ultimately to operate from INS Vikrant being acquired from the UK.
