Non è una cosa che capita tutti i giorni avere le Finali Mondiali in Italia e men che meno “ a casa nostra ”, a Monza. Le Finali Mondiali sono infatti tornate per la prima volta a Monza dopo quel lontano 2006 che vide l'addio di Michael Schumacher al mondo delle corse. Su questo circuito leggendario, sport, competizione e passione si sono uniti in quattro giorni pieni di adrenalina dedicati a clienti ed appassionati del Cavallino Rampante. Siamo stati in tanti ad aver preso parte dall'1 al 4 novembre all ’ edizione 2018 delle Finali Mondiali Ferra- ri; abbiamo ammirato in una zona del paddock magistralmente allestita le nuovissime Ferra- ri Monza SP1 e SP2 e la Ferrari 488 Pista Spider. Per quattro giorni, abbiamo assistito nel circuito brianzolo alle ultime gare dei tre campionati Ferrari Challenge e alle speciali sessio- ni degli esclusivi Programmi XX e F1 Clienti. Monza è uno dei circuiti più iconici, non solo perché è una delle piste storiche, ma soprattutto perché è unica; è infatti considerata l ’ ultimo vero tempio della velocità del motorsport. Eravamo li ad ammirare in pista i piloti del Ferrari Challenge che si sono alternati alle sessioni dei Programmi XX e F1 Clienti. Le mo- noposto di Formula 1 che hanno scritto la storia del Gran Premio italiano di Monza hanno corso di nuovo su questo famoso nastro d'asfalto, mentre le FXX, 599XX, FXX K e la nuova SSOMMARIO: O M M A R I O : SOMMARIO: FXX K EVO hanno calcato la pista con la loro sorprendente potenza.

Abstract: The Karl E. Ludvigsen papers 1905-2011 contain his extensive research files, photographs, and prints on a wide variety of automotive topics. The papers reflect the complexity and breadth of Ludvigsen’s work as an author, researcher, and consultant. Approximately 70,000 of his photographic negatives have been digitized and are available on the Revs Digital Library. Thousands of undigitized prints in several series are also available but the copyright of the prints is unclear for many of the images. Ludvigsen’s research files are divided into two series: Subjects and Marques, each focusing on technical aspects, and were clipped or copied from newspapers, trade publications, and manufacturer’s literature, but there are occasional blueprints and photographs. The Ex-Adrea de Cesaris 1982 Alfa Romeo 182 Chassis No. N182/1 • A genuine Works ‘ground effect’ Alfa Romeo Grand Prix car, carrying arguably the most iconic of all racing liveries. • One of the first Formula 1 cars to utilise the strength advantages of a fully carbon fibre tub. • Driven to pole position at the 1982 Long Beach Grand Prix by Andrea de Cesaris. • In its current ownership for the last 15 years and the previous for 10 years before that. • Wonderfully original and a highly desirable and blue chip entry to the popular world of Historic F1. Alfa Romeo returned to Formula 1 in 1979 after a 28 year sabbatical with the 177 which was designed and built under Carlo Chiti at Autodelta. Soon the 177 was replaced with the much improved 179 which gained the backing of cigarette giant Marlboro. The 179 was developed over a period of three seasons, which included flashes of promise such as a pair of pole positions and Bruno Giacomelli and 2nd at the 1980 Australian Grand Prix. Hungry to push forward and in a bid to do better, Alfa Romeo gained the services of Ligier designer Gérard Ducarouge in 1981 and the 182 was bourn. T. + 44 (0)1285 831 488 E. Ducarouge persuaded the Turinese team to embrace carbon fibre technology in the production of its 1982 chassis, the 182 and at the beginning of the 1982 season only Alfa Romeo and McLaren were capitalising on the advantages of using carbon fibre. The monocoque’s design was largely similar to the aluminium 179, but instead was constructed entirely in carbon fibre by Advanced Composites in Derby, England.

    IniezioneIniezione The newsletter of the Northwest Alfa Romeo Club Words by Fred Russell Chili Sulla Spiaggia Photos by Gordy Hyde The driveway and parking area around Fred Wright and Kathy Lombardo’s wonderful home outside of Olympia had more Alfa Romeos than ever before. As I pulled in with my Sport Sedan, I saw another Alfetta Sedan, 2 Milanos, and a 164. Counting the other non-Alfas there were at least 7 more cars including Fiat 500s, Miatas, and more. All these cars had arrived carrying people, chili, and cornbread for the annual NWARC Chili CookOff & Cornbread Contest. The home is located on a beach along the eastern shore of Totten Inlet. The area used to be the stomping grounds of the Squaxon tribe that lived just north of the inlet near the current town of Allyn. On the 25th of May, 1792, the area was explored by Peter Puget as part of the Vancouver Expedition. During his visit to Totten Inlet, he noted “… we found abundance of small oysters. In this [inlet] were many beautiful spots. The low surrounding country, though thickly covered with wood, had a very pleasant appearance.” I’d say we agree since it was equally pleasant for NWARC, and experts note that the nutrient rich inlet pro- duces some of the best oysters found anywhere. The club’s history visiting this location is a little shorter, but equally as notewor- thy. Fred & Kathy have hosted this for a few years but each one has become more crowded than the previous. This year, we had 10 different entries in the Chili CookOff.

The design sprang from the competitive spirit that enlivens each Alfa Romeo creation. That same spirit has resulted in so many racing wins, and has breathed life into two “non-identical twins”: the 33 Stradale and the Carabo. Designed by Franco Scaglione, the 33 Stradale is a synthesis of all his technical expertise and creative daring: a masterpiece where innovation in style blends with the quest for aerodynamics and functionality. Bertone’s Marcello Gandini designed the Carabo, its futuristic features and attention to color and paintwork making it the car of tomorrow.
