This location is so central to the many visits you will want to do in Paris. You can reach most of Paris on foot so you will hardly need to take the metro or a bus. The Musee du Louvre is 10mns walk from the apartment. On your way there you can step into the Palais Royal and visit the sculputures of the Cour d'honneur, take a walk in the gardens and browse the antiques for sale in the many galleries. On your way to the Musee du Louvre you could fork left and East before reaching it to visit Les Halles (shopping, shopping, shopping) which has undergone a complete transformation with fantastic views of the surrounding architecture and a new green parkland area. Keep going to reach the old Marais area or opt to visit the Cathedral of Notre Dame on the Ile de la Cite. Don’t forget to visit the Ile St Louis too. If you cross any of the bridges you will be on the “Left Bank” and close to St Michel, also known as the Latin Quarter because of the universities where Latin was taught. If you go to the Louvre you could then continue down the rue de Rivoli and visit Concorde and keep walking to the Champs Elysees. Or turn left over one of the bridges reach St Germain des Pres. Closer to the apartment and about 12mns walk away are the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps the large and most chic department stores in Paris. There is also the grand “Opera” with it’s gold leaf roof, There is a charming old "Passage St Anne" leading to the "Passage Choiseuil" just at the end of the Rue Cherubini, where you will find a bright gallery (thanks to it's entirely glass roof) with many independant shops, cafes, jewellery stores and art galleries. Select Network—the window will open with 2 pull down menus. Select the Locations menu. You should have Automatic selected. Click Show. Select Built in Ethernet. In the dial up box there are 5 pull down menus; select the TCP/IP menu then select the Configure IP v4 menu. In the submenu select Using DHCP. The boxes that contained your former IP address will “grey out”; click Apply Now and the current IP address will appear. In both the case of the Mac and PC, the IP address for Noos should start with either, 81 or 212 or 195. Orange Livebox Troubleshooting The black modem controls the phone, TV and internet. If you experience a problem you can re-boot the modem by un-plugging the power for 30 seconds then plugging it back in to re-boot. The Modem box is situated in the cupboard with the fuse box at the entrance (entrance facing toilet, red cupboard to the right oposite the sliding dressing doors). If you have any problems with your cable TV or changing the channels, you can re-boot the cable modem by manually turning off the box. Do this by pressing the power button on the back of the box far left. The box is loceted under the TV in the living room. Allow the modem to completely power down before manually turning back on. 5 ❖ Appliances Working the combined Microwave/Oven To use the Microwave: Touch On/Off button for power You must first choose required power level by selecting from buttons marqued 90, 180, 350, 600, 1000, 1200W. Working the Induction Stovetop Induction means the pan has to be on the burner for the metal to activate the heat.
