Britain’s finest artistic gymnasts will take on the world’s best at the 2013 World Cup as the full line-ups reveal a star-studded cast of competitors for the event on December 7th at Emirates Arena.

Leading the British campaign for World Cup glory will be Scotsman Daniel Purvis and his Olympic team bronze medal winning compatriot , whilst on the women’s side Ruby Harrold one of the most talked about gymnasts on the world scene, will aim to end her year on a high note.

Facing up to the British contingent will be the 2012 World Cup champion Elizabeth Price, who returns with US teammate and World Championship parallel bars bronze medal winner John Orozco. Two-time Olympian and former all-around World Champion from and ’s 17 year old sensation will also be ones to watch out for in the women’s event. The men’s field will also include the 2013 European all-around bronze medal winner Oleg Verniaiev of and ’s Andre Likhovitskiy, who placed 4th on high bar, just behind Sam Oldham at the 2013 European Championships.

Dan Purvis is looking forward to being back on home soil and competing in front of a passionate Scottish crowd ahead of next year’s ,

“I’m so happy to be competing in the Glasgow World Cup once again in my home country, it’s going to be a great atmosphere like last year I’m sure. It’s also great to have the event ahead of the Commonwealth Games next year; hopefully it will get everybody in the spirit.”

Ruby Harrold will be making her all-around World Cup debut and is excited to face the world’s best, “I’m really excited to have been invited to compete at the Glasgow World Cup and can’t wait to be performing in front of a passionate home crowd. The all-around World Cup is one of the biggest events of the year with an amazing field of gymnasts. I’m hoping to put in a good display to end what has been a really positive 2013 for me.”

Councillor Archie Graham, Chair of Glasgow Life and Executive Member for the Commonwealth, said: “Glasgow is the only city in the UK to host a round of this year's World Cup Gymnastics and we’re proud that such a prestigious event is returning to the city.

“The line-up of competitors is truly world-class and shows, yet again, why Glasgow is one of the world's top ten sports cities.”

The all-around competition sees the male gymnasts compete across six apparatus and the women over four, with every routine counting to the final total. The event takes place on the 7th of December at Emirates Arena, Glasgow, with a new compact competition format that offers spectators non-stop action throughout a single mixed session between 1.00pm and 4.30pm.
