Welcome to the Swiss Mountaineering School grindelwaldSPORTS. Gemmenalphorn 2061m The programme: Day 1 High above lake Thun: Burgfeldstand and Gemmenalphorn For once we explore the mountains between Oberland and Emmental. No winter should go by without having paid a visit to Gemmenalphorn, a wonderful little summit with exceptional views. We meet in Interlaken and catch the bus to Beatenberg. The Niederhorn cable car brings us to the top from where we start hiking along the Güggisgrat ridge. On our right we have lake Thun below us, on the left a steep drop to Justistal. A short descent to Chüematte followed by another hike up will take us to the summit of the Gemmen- alphorn. To the north we have the mellow hills of Emmental, to the south the majestic 4000m peaks of the Bernese Alps and below us beautiful blue Lake Thun. If we’re lucky there is snow all the way down to Lake Thun providing a long “Norway – like” descent to the the bay of Sundlauenen.
