Our Parish Staff Pastoral Associate Fred Hang Happy Fathers Day! It is certainly appropriate on this 761-0480 Ext. 113 or [email protected] holiday weekend to talk about fatherhood. And in light Director of Liturgy and Music of Francis declaring 2021 as the year of St. , Carl Reyes what better person to have as a model to follow God’s 761-0480 Ext. 112 or [email protected] plan than Joseph knowing of his great trust in God. Director of Administrative Services Donna Brown In all of scripture there is not one word that Joseph 761-0480 Ext. 116 or [email protected] spoke. He was a man of action. God chose this man to be the spouse Director of Religious Education of Mary and the foster father of His son, Jesus. Joseph embodies every Mary Jo Hennemann 761-0480 Ext. 115 or [email protected] aspect of a true father. He is the provider of the family, he is defender Secretary/Receptionist, Bulletin Editor of the family's well-being and he is faithful to God’s direction in his Linda Schafer life. In this time in history, when the family is constantly under attack, 761-0480 Ext. 110 or [email protected] St. Joseph assists us in understanding the importance of the family Custodian roles and the contribution that they make in development of our Dale Steingold character and well-being. GROWING FAITH Recently, my husband and I went on our first vacation since the beginning of COVID to Yooper Land (upper peninsula of MI). We hiked trails in Porcupine Mountain State Park and explored Marquette for a couple of days. We did so much hiking/walking that our little ‘dynamo’ dog even started to slow. There were times hiking on uphill grades that I questioned whether I could go another step with the extra ‘COVID’ pounds, but thankfully I eventually could. We were blessed with a wonderful time away.

I recently discovered that the for travelers is St. Bona of . She was born in 1156 in Pisa, , and became a lay member of the Augustinian order at the age of 10. She was appointed the official guide by the Knights of St. James and led nine to Santiago de Compostella, Spain, dying at the age of 51 after returning from her final pilgrimage. Since Sunday is the first day of summer and this is the season for traveling, I am sharing this prayer to St. Bona written by Ann Fitch that can be used as we travel:

St. Bona, You traveled far and wide making pilgrimages to holy places. As I set out for (place), help me to desire to grow in holiness and faithfulness to the Church. I ask your protection as I journey there and back. Through your intercession may I be strengthened in my walk with Christ and fortified, as you were, to live a life of faith, hope, and love. May my journey be safe and my heart opened and converted. I ask all this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Blessings and safe travels,

Mary Jo

A Message from the St. Vincent de Paul Society

In the Gospel today, Jesus calms the sea and then asks the disciples “Why are you lacking in faith.” In our life’s journey, we also must learn to believe in God’s presence and to trust in his care. Through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is able to continue to show God’s love and care to others by assisting families with food, utility bills, and rent bills.

Poor boxes are located on the inside wall of the church entrance doorway. 5 Parish Calendar BE INFORMED Sunday, June 20 Monday, June 21 HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! 1:00 PM Staff Meeting (CR) Tuesday, June 22 We give our thanks, Creator God, for the fathers in After Mass—Praying the Rosary our lives. 7:00 PM AA (Rm. 7) Wednesday, June 23 Fatherhood does not come with a manual, and Thursday, June 24 reality teaches us that some fathers excel while 10:00 AM Prayer Shawl Ministry(Rm. 4) others fail. 6:30 PM DMI Meeting (Rm. 1) Friday, June 25 We ask for Your blessings for them all – and forgiveness where it is Parish Office Closed needed.
