Pura Ulun Danu Batur "Nine- Mountain Complex"

The principle temple, Pura Agung Batur, houses five multi-tiered shrines dedicated to deities and saints. Each pura serves a specific purpose, spiritual (in honor of the gods) or worldly (agriculture, craftwork, hot springs and the like). by chensiyuan People, especially farmers come from all over Bali to worship Vishnu because of the temple's strong connection with irrigation and proximity to Lake Batur. Each year, a grand temple festival takes place here during the 10th Balinese month.

Pura Taman Ayun "Temple Above River"

Pura Taman Ayun is easy to locate, on the main road going east in Mengwi Village, Badung Regency. One of the most famous tourist spots in Badung Regency, probably due to its unusual beauty, Pura Taman Ayun literally means 'beautiful garden'. Constructed around 1740, it once functioned as the home of the king of Mengwi, who surrounded his palace by chensiyuan with wonderful spacious gardens and waterways. The complex is set above a huge river, giving it a fresh, natural appeal. Many smaller shrines with tiered roofs (meru) lie within the premises. These were originally built for the king's ancestral worshiping rituals.

Tanah Lot Temple "Temple on a Sea Cliff"

Temples abound the shores of Bali but Temple (Pura Tanah Lot) appears to be like it has come straight out of a dream. Located on a piece of rock jutting out from the sea, it is one of only seven sea temples in Bali. It is dedicated to the sea god Baruna and believed to be the brainchild of historic traveler and religious figure, Danghyang Nirartha. This temple is a by kolibri5 fine specimen of medieval sculptural art, carved out of sea rock sometime in the 16th Century. A variety of plants and creepers grow on the rock, partially covering the quaint stone shrines, stairways and columns, while powerful waves lash against the cliff. The path connecting the mainland to the temple is dotted with souvenir shops, and performing arts and kite flying festivals are frequently held here. Visitors are not allowed access during high tide.

Pura Besakih "Bali's Mother Temple"

On what is considered to be one of Bali's holiest temple sites, large stone- hewn structures cling to the western slopes of Mount Agung. This is the temple complex of Pura Besakih, a set of tapering stone monuments that stand on terraced steps amid a wondrously natural landscape. Six levels trace the delicately sloped mountain, such that the ancient complex by CEphoto, Uwe Aranas unfolds in a stunningly artistic incline – symbolic of a gradual spiritual journey that heightens as you reach closer to the mountain's peak. A candi bentar, or a split gateway marks its sacred entrance, followed by several other gateways that reveal hidden courtyards. Of all the shrines that grace the mountain, the Pura Penataran Agung is considered the largest and the holiest. Dating back to prehistoric times, this sacred maze- like complex was built on a previously ordained holy site, and was christened 'Basuki', after the dragon deity 'Naga Besukian', who was believed to live on the volcanic mountain. From the base of the mountain, the grandeur of this stellar mountain shrine cannot be escaped, and it is further brought alive by the seventy-odd festivals and ceremonies held here each year.
