Flackwell Heath F.C. FlackwellCLUB Heath HISTORY • Club History Flackwell Heath FC was founded in 1907 and the club joined the High Wycombe and District League for its inaugural season. The Heathens proved to be a major force in local football, having won twelve Wycombe League championship titles and fourteen High Wycombe Senior Challenge Cup finals.

In the 1950’s Flackwell joined the Great Western Combination League and won this league twice before returning to the Wycombe League. In 1956 the club moved to its current home, the new ground being donated by the Wilks family.

Through the 60s and 70's the club continued their success on and off field and the new clubhouse was built in 1974 as the first stage of their rise into senior football. In 1975 The Heathens won the Berks and Bucks Intermediate Cup and the Reading Senior Cup. In 1977 the club achieved Senior status and moved up into the Hellenic League Division One. Promotion to the Premier Division was achieved at the first attempt. After five seasons in this league, during which time floodlights were installed at Wilks Park, Flackwell were elected into the Athenian League. In 1984 they joined the expanding . The clubs first season in this competition saw them playing in Division Two (North) and against some tough opposition they finished in a respectable eighth position. The following season Flackwell was switched to Division Two (South) where life turned out to be even tougher. At the end of season 1990-91, after finishing below mid-table, The Heathens found themselves placed in the newly formed Ryman League Division Three.

At this stage the club installed a 150 seater stand to stay in senior football, and new home changing rooms were built to comply with new ground gradings. For the next 10 years the club carried out further ground improvements and they established themselves in senior football.

In 2002/03 for the first time in their history Flackwell reached the 4th qualifying round of the FA Cup losing 4-1 at home against Crawley and finished third in the newly formed Ryman League Division Two, the highest position achieved to date.

In 2003/04 Flackwell won The High Wycombe Senior Challenge Cup for the twelfth time. In season 2004/05 The Heathens reached the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup for the second time in three years, this time losing 3-0 at Ryman Premier Division Billericay Town and were runners-up in the Ryman League Associate Members Cup, losing 2-1 after extra time to Division Two champions Ilford on their own ground. The Veterans team won the FA Umbro Sunday Cup, lead by Byron Walton a feat which was repeated in 2006 and 2007. After winning the National final the lads went to The Bernabeu Stadium and played against Real Madrid veterans for the European Cup and lost by 3-1. Flackwell finished fourth in Ryman League Division Two in 2005/06, narrowly missing out on promotion. After the end of 2006/07 the FA reorganised the non-league pyramid and we were due to be relegated into the South Midlands until Barking and East Ham United went out of business and we were given the opportunity to take their place in the Ryman Division One (North). Unfortunately we finished bottom of the league and were relegated into the Hellenic Premier Division for season 2008/09. In 2007/08 season we held our centenary game against Wycombe Wanderers with a crowd of 1300 watching Peter Taylors’s first game in charge at Wycombe. In our first season in the Hellenic League we finished in 9th position and lost 2-1 to Chalfont Wasps in the final of the High Wycombe Senior Challenge Cup at Adams Park. In 2010/11 we got to two cup finals nut both were lost on penalty shoot-outs, The Berks & Bucks Trophy to Newport Pagnell and the Reading Senior Cup to Newbury Town. The 2014/15 season saw us gain promotion into the Southern League Division 1. However, a late move by the Southern League of us from the Central Division into the South West Division meant FHFC were unable to accept promotion and we stayed in the Hellenic League Premier Division for season 2015-16. 2014-15 also saw us with places in the final of the Berks & Bucks Trophy (losing to Windsor FC) and the High Wycombe Senior Challenge Cup (winning against Penn & Tylers Green FC). Earlier that season we reached the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup losing to Conference side Weston Supermare 4-1. For the first time in club history we also reached the last sixteen of the FA Vase losing 3-2 to Shaw Lane Aquaforce. 2015/16 season under the continued management of Graham Malcolm assisted by Paul Shone saw us finish 3rd in the Hellenic League also winning 3 cup finals – the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy (against Newport Pagnell FC), the Uhlsport Challenge Cup (against Brackley Town Saints) and the Wycombe Senior Cup (against Pitstone and Ivinghoe FC). At the end of the season the manager Graham Malcolm resigned to pursue a life in Spain and his assistant Paul Shone was appointed the new manager to take the team through to the new season. Players Player of the Season. Scorer in pre-season win at Wormley Rovers. Baldock Town FC CLUB HISTORY Following the demise of Baldock Town in 2001, who were playing in the Southern Football League at the time, a new Club was formed in 2003. Simply named Baldock FC, the Club was formed from former products of the youth system and put together by committee members of the successful youth setup. The Club joined Division One of the North Herts League and after finishing mid-table in their debut season, they won promotion to the Premier Division at the end of the following campaign. The 2006–07 season saw the Club revert from Baldock FC back to the name of the former club Baldock Town. Under the management of duo Steve King and Barry Laurence, the team finished second in the Premier Division and also finished runners-up in the Benevolent Shield and Herts Junior Cup, where they went down 5-4 after extra time to Kings Sports in front of a crowd of 576. In 2007–08 with King now in sole charge, Town moved up to the Herts Senior County League Division One and immediately won promotion to the Premier Division as champions – losing just twice and amassing 78 points from 30 games. The 2008–09 season saw the Club move from Knights Templar Sports Centre to the County Ground on Baldock Road in Letchworth, home of the Hertfordshire FA and as part of the move, the Club revised its name to Baldock Town Letchworth. At the end of the 2010–11 season, the club were on the move again, with the Hertfordshire FA terminating Town’s rental agreement. After discussing a number of options, the Club returned to the former home of Baldock Town FC in Norton Road, Baldock – now known as The North Herts Arena. This also resulted in the Club reverting its name back to Baldock Town. The 2011-12 season, with the team now managed by Scott Grant, was the Club’s most successful since reforming as they clinched the Premier Division title by 13 points and won the Anagram Records Trophy. However, the Club were denied promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League as the North Herts Arena’s 3G facility did not meet the requirements for Step 6 football. To enable the Club to continue its progress, a groundshare with Hitchin Town FC at their Top Field ground was agreed in July 2012. The 2012-13 season started with the loss of no fewer than seven of the previous season’s title winning side, but management duo Scott Grant and Steve Morgan stuck around and built another exciting young team. After losing three of their first seven league games, Town went onto win 14 of their next 16 in the league to set things up nicely for a title showdown with leaders Met Police Bushey. However, it was the Met who came out on top 3-1 and they went on to win the title. Despite the disappointment of missing out on the league title, Grant’s men did fantastically well to lift the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy though for the first time in April after beating three Step 6 opponents en route to their penalty shootout final victory over Broxbourne Borough. A 1-0 win at Risborough Rangers also set up a second successive Anagram Records Trophy Final appearance. The Final itself wasn’t a great spectacle, but an own goal in extra-time saw Town successfully retain the Trophy in front of a crowd of 273. Town kicked off their first ever Spartan South Midlands League campaign with a 3-2 win at Langford on 10th August 2013. Lee Harman scored twice with Josh Furness netting the winner. Lee Harman went on to score a club record 46 goals as Town finished 7th in Division One. They also progressed through two rounds of the FA Vase for the first time before going down 4-1 to Berkhamsted. The 2014/15 season would prove another season of consolidation for the Reds. After a promising start to the campaign, a poor second half of the season saw Town eventually finish 10th in Division One. The Club took part in the FA Cup for the first time since its reformation and following a 3-0 win in the Extra Preliminary Round over Hatfield Town, the Reds were eliminated by Ryman League Harlow Town in front of a club record home crowd of 213. They also reached the First Round Proper of the FA Vase for a second successive season. At the end of the season manager Scott Grant decided to step down after five successful seasons in charge. Luke Gregson was appointed player-manager in May 2015 with Dean Gilbert as his assistant. After a difficult start to the season, including a 5-1 home defeat by Hillingdon Borough on the opening day, Gregson guided the club to its highest ever league finish of 3rd and narrowly missed out on promotion. bluefin_bw.pdf 1 11/07/2014 11:35

K Flackwell Heath FC 1st Team – Hellenic Premier

Good afternoon to all.

Crazy to think we are playing our second game of the season and it’s an FA Cup game! Only another 13 rounds for the winners to get to Wembley!!!

We come in to today’s game v Baldock Town on the back of a fine 3-1 League opening win last Tuesday against a well fancied Bracknell Town side this year.

After a very slow and nervy 10 minutes and a goal down we started to get a foot hold of the game. With 3 debuts in the starting line up: Gurkan “Gary” Gokman, Matty Stockill and Andrew Dean, all starting to gel and ask questions of Bracknell with some very good Paul Shone – Manager play. Getting us back on level terms was Jamie Tripp, towering header from a corner. Then to put us 2-1 up was the play of the night with some great passing and movement from Joe Blount, Dan Burnell, Ben Sturgess and then finished off by Dan Rapley.

With a slight adjustment to our play at half time we carried on our play and had Bracknell on the back foot again.

Our third goal came from a great Dan Burnell cross and a flying header from Joe Blount, once again some great build up play to this goal. With Bracknell pressing and trying to get back into the game we were always going to get chances, and if I’m honest, with a bit better finishing at times the score line could have been a lot bigger. Our defensive display second half was brilliant and with not a shot at our goal, as a team we had done our job.

Always great to get off to a winning start but still lots to work on, and we will get better.

We welcome Baldock Town here today who return to the competition after a years absence, so a special day for them. Not knowing anything about them it will an interesting game.

Cheers Shoney

Just a quick introduction, I’m Mark Driscoll, better known as Tricky. I have stepped up from managing the youth team last season to the Reserves. Salvo stepped down to pursue other interests, but you will still see him around the ground supporting the club.

Well so far so good with the Reserves this preseason.

I’ve been looking forward to get back into the flow of things with the team and having Matt Rolfe join me was a massive plus this season.

There are a few new additions to the squad from last season, who have fitted in quite nicely and to have a few old faces back with the club is great.

Well, so far we’ve played 3 preseason friendlies, in the first game we took on Cookham Dean and won 3-1, a great performance from everybody, it was a very hot day and the team played at a very high tempo which showed they kept up there fitness between seasons.

The second game was away to Chalfont Wasps another great performance which ended in a 2-2 draw, and the third friendly was against Maidenhead Town at home which was a good game from everyone involved, we ended up winning 6-0 so things are looking rosie at the moment. We have another friendly on the 6th August away to Iver Heath but myself and Matt are trying to get another friendly squeezed in before we start our League campaign on the 13th August at home to Aston Clinton so please come along and give us the support and hopefully watch a good game.

Mark Driscoll (Tricky) Flackwell Heath FC Allied Counties – Division 2 East

Firstly I would like to introduce you to the new coaching team. With Mark Driscoll taking the step up to manage the Reserves we have bought in some new faces to help manage/coach the youth team. I have taken up the role of manager and I will be joined by Ed Henderson and Steve Small who will come in and help manage and coach the team along with Phil Przybylak who will continue to assist on match days.

Ed is a young man who is extremely keen. He successfully set up Wycombe Tigers FC, (a club that has two teams in the South Bucks Youth League) while still at school and is currently the Chairman of the club and Manager of the U18’s A team.

Steve is an ex non-league player who has played locally for Marlow and Windsor along with a host of other teams and has been coaching the youth of Downley Dynamos for a number of years.

After a pretty much non-existent preseason last season and a difficult start to the season it was important to get the ball rolling early this year. I had the coaching team in place by the end of June ready to start preseason on 5th July. We have all been busy trying to attract players to add to the talented crop that will continue from last season and with three weeks until the season starts we have 13 lads signed on and another 7 or 8 that will sign on, compare that to last season we only had 8 signed on 3 days before our first league match.

Despite these numbers it has proved difficult getting the lads all together at once, with holidays and work commitments the attendance at training has been good some days and poor on others. However most of the lads have now had their holidays and with the friendlies coming up I am expecting to see a marked improvement with numbers at training.

On Tuesday 26th July we took a squad of 16 over to Bracknell to play their Allied Counties team in our first friendly of the season. It was a very physical match (no such thing as a friendly) but a good workout none the less. There were many positives to come out of it as well as a few things to work on. Final score was 3 – 3, Sean Chivers (2), George Goode (1).

We continue our preseason on Wednesday 3rd August away to a Pro Football Academies team, we then travel to Uxbridge on 10th August and finally Binfield away on 17th August before we kick off our League campaign away to Hanwell Town on 24th August.

Our aims for the season are to try and play some good football and progress the boys, I would like to see as many boys playing for the reserves as possible with some knocking on the first team door at some point this season, and anything else will be a bonus.
