Wednesday 21

Field excursion on bus. We aim to visit a famous garden “Huerto del Cura” in Elche (55 km away from Murcia, direction Alicante), to see beautiful palm trees. Lately, we shall follow to “El Hondo”, a typical marsh landscape of SE Spain located in a protected area 8 km from Elche. A contrasting landscape is waiting for us in Sierra Espuña, a large pine forest 55 km away from Murcia (direction Andalusia). In the reception building of this protected area we will be offered a typical lunch. After a little siesta we may have a round table. We shall depart to Murcia at 20.00. Collecting heat-resistant beetles is allowed. Those brave participants wishing to expend the spare time of the trip trying to collect the scarce active beetles will have a chance to do so.

- 9.00. Bus departure from the apartments in the Campus.

- Somewhere in-between. Sandwich and soft drink.

- 14.30. Lunch prepared by forest managers of Sierra Espuña.

- Siesta time. Free time to collect or have a little rest.
