Instruction Detail for booking completion and visiting the RAF Regiment Heritage Centre.

Location

The RAF Regiment Heritage Centre is situated inside the perimeter of RAF Honington, the Home of RAF ForceProtection and the Home of the RAF Regiment. It is situated between and just off the A134.

RAF Honington is an Operational Base

RAF Honington is an operational camp of the RAF and as such is guarded 24 / 7 by armed guards. Entrance to the base is through the main guardroom and only on production of a valid photographic ID (Passport or UK Driving License). All visitors need to report to the Main Guard Room to book in and receive their individual and car security passes. Random searches of vehicles on entrance may occur, dependent on the security state. All visitors to the museum will be escorted by the Staff Volunteers whose role is to ensure your safety, and maximise your enjoyment of the visit.

Tour Length

The tours of the Heritage Centre will be approximately 3 hours in length and visitors should be aware that whilst there are male and female toilet facilities we have no facilities for nappy changing nor are there any facilities for refreshments at the moment although this is subject to change. Seating is amply provided around the facility for older or more infirm member and the museum is wheel chair friendly.

Completion of the Booking Form

When completing the booking form, please ensure you complete a form for each member of the party. If you are bringing children / grand children then whilst you have to book them separately only they will not need photo ID if under 16.

Photography

Photography is allowed inside the facility and encouraged. The Staff Volunteers are there to help and brief and answer questions. All of them have server on operations with the Corps over the last half century and can provide a wide range of personal recollections.

End of the Visit

On completion of your visit you will again be escorted back to the main guardroom where you are free to enjoy some of the fine scenery and hostelries that East Anglia is famous for.

The proximity of the main A14 road into East Anglia, mainline connected rail stations at Bury St Edmunds and Thetford and only 40 minutes from London Stansted make the Station's rural location very accessible.
