With the MMUF Journal, we provide an additional opportunity for students to experience academia through exposure to the publishing process. In addition to providing an audience for student work, the journal offers an introduction to the publishing process, including peer review and editor-guided revision of scholarly work. For the majority of students, the MMUF Journal is their first experience in publishing a scholarly article. The 2018 Journal features writing by 27 authors from 22 colleges and universities that are part of the program’s member institutions. The scholarship represented in the journal ranges from research conducted under the MMUF program, introductions to senior theses, and papers written for university courses. The work presented here includes scholarship from a wide range of disciples, from history to linguistics to political science. The papers presented here will take the reader on a journey. Readers will travel across the U.S., from Texas to South Carolina to California, and to countries ranging from Brazil and Nicaragua to Germany and South Korea, as they learn about theater, race relations, and the refugee experience.

    H-Film Auf Wiedersehen Pet: Past and Present Discussion published by Elif Sendur on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 We are inviting abstracts for a publication on the British television series Auf Wiedersehen Pet to mark the 35th anniversary of its first screening. We are interested in a range of contributions including; academic articles, fan responses, reminiscences, revisiting locations, interviews, etc. Auf Wiedersehen Pet first appeared on the television screens in 1983. Initially conceived as a single six part series it went on to run for 40 episodes over 5 series. The first series followed the plight of British workers forced to look for work overseas as recession hit Britain. The series, in 1986 showed a brighter, affluent Britain, but one which was ultimately corrupt. Voted in a recent Radio Times poll the number one favourite ITV drama over its 50 year history,Auf Wiedersehen, Pet continues to capture the imagination of the viewing public since its first airing in 1983. Over four series and a special, it portrayed the highs and lows of a disparate band of labourers. AufPet, as it became known to the writers, had a prestigious lineage. The series was the brainchild of a northern film-maker, Franc Roddam. It arrived after a long line of impressive cinema films and TV dramas which represented gritty working class life in all its glory and horrors. Such hard-hitting ‘social problem’ dramas as Cathy Come Home, Peter Terson’s The Fishing Party (BBC Play for Today, 1972), Boys From the Black Stuff and Roddam’s own The Family, had already begun to pinpoint the central dramatic component parts of working class representation; jobs (getting them, losing them, suffering over them), damaged relationships, drink, sex and music.

Nowresearch about the human factorsis crucial. This can be divided intofour areas.(1) TLe needs telecommunicationsmust satisfy--needs can be extrapolated from currentbehavior.(2) The technological alternatives available--importantdevelopments are being made in transmission andswitching equipment and user terminals. (3) The effectiveness of thealternatives for meeting the needs--studies should combine the laboratoryand outside world and should focus on typical consumers aswell as business users.(4) The secondary effects--impact studies aredifficult and usually begin after the impact has been felt. Animpact study approach can be to ask what constraints would beloosened by the presence of a technological development. For example, lower costtelecommunications would remove one constraint on longdistance calls and could lead to new group associations.Several disciplines are relevant toresearch that is needed, including informationtheory, management studies, psychology, sociology, urban and regionalplanning and geogTaphy. Abstract This thesis will discuss the emerging influence of film review aggregators and their effect on the changing landscape for reviews in the film industry. Specifically, this study will look at the top 150 domestic grossing films of 2010 to empirically study the effects of two specific review aggregators. A time-delayed approach to regression analysis is used to measure the influencing effects of these aggregators in the long run. Subsequently, other factors crucial to predicting film success are also analyzed in the context of sustained earnings.

Our service area spans nearly 26 million acres - the entire California portion of the Mojave and Colorado deserts - about 25% of the state. Since 2006 we have secured permanent and lasting protection for over 90,000 acres across the California deserts. We envisage the California desert as a vital ecosystem of interconnected, permanently protected scenic and natural areas that host a diversity of native plants and wildlife. Views and vistas are broad. The air is clear, the water clean, and the night skies dark. Cities and military facilities are compact and separated by large natural areas. Residents, visitors, land managers, and political leaders value the unique environment in which they live and work, as well as the impacts of global climate change upon the desert ecosystem.
