    Concerts conducted by Carl Schuricht including music of Anton Bruckner (1912-1965) Original source : http://carlschuricht.com/concert.htm Important Dates 3 July 1880 : Carl Adolph Schuricht was born at Danzig (Gdansk) into a family of organ-builders. His father, Carl Conrad Schuricht was born on 27 January 1856. He was an organ-builder and worked at his father's factory. He died on 9 June 1880 (3 weeks before his son was born !) when he tried to help an employee fallen into the sea, in the bay of Danzig. His mother, Amanda Ludowika Alwine Wusinowska was a well-known Polish Oratorio singer (1847-1935) . She didn't re-marry after her husband's death. 1886 : Began piano and violin lessons at the age of 6. Studied at the « Friedrichs Realgymnasium » in Berlin. 1891 : Began to compose at the age of 11. 1892 : Studied at the « Königliches Realgymnasium » in Wiesbaden. Written the music and the librettos for 2 Operas. 1895 : Started conducting at the age of 15. 1901-1902 : 1st professional job as « Korrepetitor » at the « Stadttheater » of Mainz. 1902 : Won a composition prize from the Kuszynski Foundation, and awarded a scholarship by Franz von Mendelssohn. Allowed him to continue his studies at the « Berliner Musikhochschule » (« der Königlichten Hochschule für Musik ») under Ernst Rudorff, piano ; Heinrich van Eyken (and not Engelbert Humperdink) , composition ; and, later, Max Reger in Leipzig. His musical compositions were published mostly by Drei-Lilien-Verlag, Berlin. Opus 1 : Piano Sonata in F minor. Opus 2 : « Herbst-Stücke » (Opuscules for autumn) for piano and orchestra. Opus 3 : « Fünf Lieder » (5 Songs) .

PFINGSTTAG Cantate pour la Pentecôte Leipzig, 20 mai 1725 AVERTISSEMENT Cette notice dédiée à une cantate de Bach tend à rassembler des textes (essentiellement de langue française), des notes et des critiques discographiques souvent peu accessibles (2011). Le but est de donner à lire un ensemble cohérent d’informations et de proposer aux amateurs et mélomanes francophones un panorama « espéré » parfois inédit de cette partie de l’œuvre vocale de Bach. Emphasis is given to issues pertaining to 19th century performance practice, as well as to historical connections between Mengelberg and compositional/interpretative trends in Europe at the time. Mengelberg’s impact on musical life in Amsterdam, New York, and beyond will be considered. The relevance of Mengelberg’s recordings is assessed from both a documentary and aesthetic point of view. This document examines three important cello works by Canadian composers that are deserving of international recognition: Jean Coulthard's Sonata for Cello and Piano (1947), Sophie-Carmen Eckhardt-Gramatte's Duo Concertante (1959), and Andre Prevost's Sonate No. 2pour Violoncelle et Piano (1985).

He studied double bass at the Prague Conservatory with Josef Hrabe and also received lessons in theory from Johann Friedrich Kittl and August Wilhelm Ambros. He became a double bassist for the Court Orchestra at Stuttgart and later was appointed Kapellmeister. He composed orchestral and chamber works as well as lieder and several successful operas. His unrecorded Symphonies are: Nos. 1 in B minor (1852), 2 in C minor (1854), 3 in A major (1856), 5 in C minor (1870), 6 in D minor "Lyric Symphony" (1890) and 7 in C major "Spring Symphony" (1894). Symphony No. 4 in D major, Op. 31 "Columbus, A Musical Portrait of the Sea in the Form of a Symphony" (1863) Werner Stiefel/Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra ( + Concerto for Double Bass and Variations for Double Bass and Orchestra) BAYER RECORDS 100160 (1996) AUGUST RITTER VON ADELBURG (1830-1873) Born in Pera, Turkey. The son of a diplomat, he spent his early years in Istanbul before going to Vienna to study music with Joseph Mayseder for violin and with Hoffmann for composition. He then toured Europe as a violinist. He later returned to Istanbul where he played the violin before the Sultan to whom he dedicated this Symphony. He mostly composed operas, chamber, instrumental and vocal works.
