So, without further ado, I give you the best band ever, Brand New. Thanks to Shadman and Nick for their help with this post as well. Brand New is from Long Island, New York, and was formed in 2000. This group had their roots in another group called Rookie Lot, which three Long Island kids named Jesse Lacey, Garrett Tierney, and Brian Lane were in, along with two other members (who eventually join Crime in Stereo and Movielife respectively). The three remaining members, along with the addition of Vin Accardi (formerly One Last Goodbye), came together to form a new group. Vuala, Brand New. After several demos, they put out their debut in 2001 on Triple Crown Records. At this time they wrote catchy pop-punk songs full of teenage bitterness (well). Their next release, Deja Entendu, showed their maturation as a band and reaching a much larger audience. -

This Ain’t a Scene, It’s a Buzzer Race Sadboys are temporary. Sad trumpets are forever. Written by Brian Luong Tossups: 1. This band’s extensive and impressive merchandise catalogue can be attributed to guitarist Nick Steinhardt’s side occupation as a graphic designer. A live EP following this band’s sophomore studio album was titled Live on BBC Radio 1 and featured vocals from Jordan Dreyer of La Dispute. It’s not Red Hot Chili Peppers, but this band’s distinct asterisk-shaped logo was meant to evoke converging road markings leading to a sunset, and was first used in promotional artwork for the band’s second album, with that album’s initials “PTSBBAM” arranged in the negative spaces of the logo. This band’s 2016 single “Palm Dreams” was described by their frontman as a song about his inability to ask his mother about why she moved to California after she passed. The album from which that single is taken, as a whole, deals with themes of frontman Jeremy Bolm grieving the loss of his mother due to cancer. For 10 points, give the name of this Los Angeles-based post-hardcore band, which you may know from the albums Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me and Stage Four. ANSWER: Touché Amoré 2. download brand new sowing season album Brand New's 'The Devil and God Are Raging Inside of Me' is still messing with us. Ten years ago, I sent my favorite band a dollar bill in the mail. The act of blind faith was prompted by instructions in the liner notes of Brand New's third album, The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me , which was released on November 21, 2006. As the blood-and-thunder album title suggests, it's a beast of a record. It didn't feel like much of a choice. For a small fee, fans were allegedly to receive a booklet of lyrics (not included in the album's packaging) in the mail. We waited in vain. Fans even reported to the band's official street team forum that their checks for $1 had been cashed as the months dragged on, but nothing came. Nothing came until we had a few years to process the full force of the record's unrelenting emotional calamity. Fans collectively scrambled on Livejournal communities and message boards trying to piece together Jesse Lacey's wounded yelps and murmurs often hidden beneath Vincent Acardi's guitar solos or layered, distorted chants. "Limousine," a tragedy in three acts inspired by a devastating local news story -- the death of a seven-year-old flower girl at the hands of a drunk driver -- is enough to process without realizing the song's somehow grimmer conclusion buried beneath feedback. We'll never have to buy adjacent plots of earth We'll never have to rot together underneath dirt I'll never have to lose my baby in the crowd I should be laughing right now. -
