Calgary, AB T2P 2C4 Phone: 403.263.1796 Email: [email protected] ORDERS OF DRESS 2137 CALGARY HIGHLANDERS CADET CORPS GENERAL DRESS STANDARDS (Source: Army Cadet Dress Regulations, CATO 46-01, modified Feb 2011) 1. Hair shall be neatly groomed and conservatively styled, and will not in any way interfere with the proper wear of the beret. a. Style and colour of hair will not be bleached or coloured in any unnatural tones such as green, bright red, blue, purple, etc. b. Must be secured away from the face. i. Any accessories used to secure the hair will be as unobtrusive as possible and will blend with the hair colour. 2. Cadets in uniform will not wear visible body piercing adornments (tongue included), with the exception of female cadet’s earrings. a. Jewellery used for piercings of the eyebrows, the nose, the lips, etc. must be removed when in uniform, or will be covered with a discrete piece of flesh-coloured tape. 3. Cadets shall not display tattoos that are deemed to be offensive (e.g. pornographic, blasphemous, racist, etc.) or otherwise reflect discredit on the Canadian Cadet Organization (CCO). a. If a cadet is found to have such a tattoo, they must cover the tattoo at all times during cadet training, whether in uniform or in civilian clothing. Male Cadets 1. Male cadets must have short haircuts tapered at the back, with the sideburns not more than halfway down the ear a. The hair may not touch the top of the collar or the top of the ears b. Will not exceed 15 cm in length c. Refer to Figure 1. 2. Cadets must be clean shaven but if they can grow a satisfactory moustache in a short period of time they can apply to wear one. a. Beards shall not be worn except for those cadets who are adherent of the Sikh religion. b. Refer to Figure 2. 3. Except for medic-alert bracelets, and wristwatches, jewelry is not worn when in uniform. a. Medic-alert bracelets and wristwatches will be placed on the left wrist at all times. Male cadets may not wear earrings at any time while in uniform. a. Those cadets who have ear rings must remove them during cadet activities, or if they cannot be removed, due to a risk of infection, they will be covered with a band aid during cadet training. Female Cadets 1. Female cadets with long hair must wear their hair up off the collar when in uniform. a. Hair will be secured with hair gel in order to present a clean and professional appearance. b. Nail polish, if worn, must be clear, not coloured. 3. Females may wear one pair of small, plain, spherical, gold or gemstone stud earrings centered in the earlobe. All others will be removed or covered with a nude coloured band- aid. a. Refer to Figure 6. Figure 6 – One Stud Ear-Ring May Be Worn Centered in Each Ear Lobe (Source: Army Cadet Dress Regulations, CATO 46-01, modified Feb 2011) ROYAL CANADIAN ARMY CADET (RCAC) UNIFORM (NUMBERED DRESS FORMS) Ceremonial Dress or Parade Dress or C1 will be worn for formal ceremonies such as the Commanding Officer’s (COs) Parade. a. Headdress, Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) green shirt, tie, cadet jacket/tunic, pants with belt and parade boots will be worn with the C1 order of dress. Routine Training Dress or C2/C2-A will be worn as normal dress for all seasons. a. Headdress, CAF green shirt, cadet jacket/tunic, pants with belt and parade boots will be worn with the C2 order of dress. i. The C2 order of dress may be worn with or without a tie. When worn without a tie, the collar of the green shirt will lay on top of the collar of the tunic/jacket. ii. Only undressed ribbons will be worn with the C2 order of dress. b. C2-A will be worn without the cadet jacket/tunic. c. The only pins that will be worn on the C2-A order of dress will be the; name tag, undressed ribbons, expedition pins and cadet citation pins. Biathlon/Marksmanship pins and Duke of Edinburgh pins are not to be worn on the shirt. d. Metal Parachutist Wings may be worn on the C2-A order of dress in the cadet has earned them. The creases will extend from the first belt loop of the pant, down the centre of the leg to the very bottom. b. The pants will be properly fitted and belted in order for the creases to extend in one straight clean line. 2. The issued jacket/tunic will be clean and pressed with no creases shown anywhere on the jacket/tunic; a. The pockets will be pressed flat, along with the collar. b. The nametag of the cadet will be positioned in line with the top of the right pocket, centered with the middle of the name and the button. i. The standard CAF name tag shall be detachable, made of black and white laminated plastic plate 6.3 cm in length and 1.2 cm in height, inscribed in capital letters with white lettering 0.6 cm high, and shall indicate the surname of the cadet only.1 c. The tunic belt buckle will be centered, with the excess belt tucked under the provided belt loops; i. The buckle shall be adjusted so that the excess of the belt is not more than 8 cm. ii. The loose end of the belt will extend to the left of the wearer when properly worn. iii. No slack should be visible in the belt. d. Badges will be sewn on as per Cadet Standards and Corps standards. Refer to Figures 7, 8 and 9. i. If a Cadet has any older, bigger Cadet Summer Training Centre (CSTC) badges, they will be sewn on their own row above the newer, smaller CSTC badges in the same precedence of order. 3. The CAF green shirt will be clean and free of wrinkles; a. Creases shall extend from the centerline of the epaulette on each sleeve down through the cuff. b. The appropriate rank slip-on will be placed on the epaulette at all times. c. The CAF green shirt will be tucked into the pants at all times. 4. The issued brass belt will have the brass on the end of the belt and the fastener itself touching when worn; a. No black belt webbing is to be seen between the end of the belt and the front of the buckle. b. It will be used to hold up the dress pants at all times. c.
