Many scientific studies have been done on subtle energies, as well as the human subtle energy system, in an attempt to verify and understand how everything fits together. What is interesting to note is that even though the subtle energy systems on the earth have been verified scientifically as existing and even given names, scientists are only able to explain how some of them work. Even though we do not fully comprehend the enormity and absolute amazingness of these energies, they form an integral part of life as we know it. These various energy systems still exist regardless of whether you “believe in them” or not (unlike Santa Claus). You can liken them to micro-organisms that were unable to be seen before the invention of the microscope – they couldn’t be seen, but they killed people anyway. We, and everything in the universe, is made of energy, which can be defined most simply as “information that vibrates”. What’s more interesting is that everything vibrates at its own unique frequency / speed, for example, a brain cell vibrates differently than a hair cell, and similar organisms vibrate in similar ways, but retain a slightly different frequency than the other.

Cauthery (2007) ABSTRACT Reflecting on his fieldwork among the Malagasy speakers of Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, Canadian anthropologist Michael Lambek questions why the West has a “blind spot” when it comes to the human activity of trance. Immersed in his subject’s trance practices, he questions why such a fundamental aspect of the Malagasy culture, and many other cultures he has studied around the world, is absent from his own. This research addresses the West’s preoccupation with trance in ethnographic research and simultaneous disinclination to attribute or situate trance within its own indigenous dance practices. From a Western perspective, the practice and application of research suggests a paradigm that locates trance according to an imperialist West/non-West agenda. If the accumulated knowledge and data about trance is a by-product of the colonialist project, then trance may be perceived as an attribute or characteristic of the Other. As a means of investigating this imbalance, I propose that trance could be reconceived as an attribute or characteristic of the Self, as exemplified by dancers engaged in Western dance practices within traditional anthropology’s “own backyard.” In doing so, I examine the degree to which trance can be a meaningful construct within the cultural analysis of contemporary dance creation and performance. Through case studies with four dancer/choreographers active in Canada, Margie Gillis, Zab Maboungou, Brian Webb and Vincent Sekwati Mantsoe, this research explores the cultural parameters and framing of transformative states in contemporary dance.

The God acted to fill the Pleroma through a series of emanations, a squeezing off of small portions of his/its nonphysical energetic divine material. In most accounts there are thirty emanations in fifteen complementary pairs, each getting slightly less of the divine material and therefore being slightly weaker. The emanations are called Aeons (eternities) and are mostly named personifications in Greek of abstract ideas.

College of Technology, Raipur, India Abstracts For many millennia of human history, it has been a widespread belief that all objects, especially human and animal bodies, have an Aura (or electromagnetic (EM) field). Late 19th century metaphysical science expanded on this concept with the theory that all things possess a body of etheric substance, commonly called the Ethereal Body, which is composed of the higher frequencies of subtle energy and finer pre-matter quantum particles which are intimately bound up with the physical body, as a product of creation of matter by electrofield manifestation through the quantum particles onto the physical plane. The history of color itself has its roots in Ancient Egypt. The aura supposedly reflects a supernatural energy field or life force that permeates all things. It also shows disease - often long before the onset of symptoms. For every other object of color we have scientific devices which can measure any energy emitted from the object, as well as the wavelengths of light reflected from the object. Energy, the Eternal Delight, is the only life and is from the Body and Reason is the bound or outward circumference of Energy. In order to find the secrets of the universe, analysis is being done in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. Various distinct cultural and religious traditions postulate the existence of esoteric energies, usually as a type of – an essence which differentiates living from non-living objects.

    ENERGY AND AWAKENING: A PSYCHO-SEXUAL INTERPRETATION OF KUNDALINI AWAKENING Steve Taylor, Ph.D. Leeds, United Kingdom ABSTRACT: In the Hindu Yoga and Tantric traditions, Kundalini is seen as a “coiled energy” at the base of the spine. Its release (which can be sudden or gradual) results in sudden spiritual awakening, sometimes with disruptive psychological and physical effects. In this article, cases of “kundalini-like” experiences from my research are discussed, highlighting ways in which they seem to differ from kundalini as normally conceived. Here the experiences are interpreted in terms of an “energetic” theory of spiritual awakening. It is suggested that kundalini-like experiences are related to a sudden release of energy normally expressed as sexual energy, or libido. In other cases, spiritual awakening may be related to a dissolution of the normal self-system. or ego. The concept of kundalini arousal may have been developed as a way of describing the transformational experience of a sudden release of concentrated sexual energy. In the chakra system of the Yoga and Tantra traditions, kundalini—derived from the Sanskrit word kunda, meaning to coil or spiral—lies dormant in the first and lowest of the seven chakras, the muladhara. According to these traditions, once kundalini is aroused, it travels up through the sushumna energy-channel, located roughly in parallel with the spine (hence the slightly inaccurate but common belief that kundalini travels “up the spine” itself). It travels all the way up to the seventh chakra, the sahasrara, in the crown of the head.
