RCOE VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) program will be hosting the Virtual Solo Music Festival for Voice. This festival is free of charge to students. Students are invited to participate in the festival by submitting a video featuring their performance of a song of their choice. Hemet Unified Nutrition Services Department and SAFE Expanded Learning Program has teamed up to provide a Cooking Club. This is a fun and delicious learning activity for HUSD families. The 2021 Rotary Four-Way Test Speech Contest is here! The Hemet Rotary Club will hold its local competition WEDNESDAY MARCH 17th via Zoom from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. HUSD will be hosting its Career Technical Education (CTE) Fair virtually on Thursday February 25th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. The fair allows families to familiarize themselves with the CTE pathways and classes available in middle and high school. Please see the attached flyer for more information about the event. Scholarships

Attention Seniors- There are two scholarship opportunities available for Hemet High school students through Michelle's Place. 1. Michelle's Place Scholarship (Two $1000 scholarships are available): - The candidate must be in need of financial assistance. - The candidate must be affected by cancer, either personally or through a family member, - The candidate must be seeking assistance to continue their education in a college or trade school. - The candidate must live in Riverside County. 2. Shanen Skinner-Pearson Spirit of Life Scholarship(One $1000 scholarship is available): - The candidate must be in need of financial assistance for continuing education - The candidate must be affected by breast cancer, either personally or through an immediate family member. - The candidate must write an essay on how breast cancer has inspired them to help others and to change the way they experience life. - The candidate must live in the region served by Michelle's Place. The Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG) Foundation is offering at least 6 scholarships to the Class of 2021 Seniors. Your parent/guardian MUST be employed by a California vineyard during the 2020-2021 winegrape growing season to be eligible to apply. This scholarship's focus is on community service and volunteerism and is open to high school senior girls only. Please see the attached scholarship application for more information. Vocational Grant- This program is offering grants up to $2000 per year for students planning on pursuing training at an eligible vocational/technical (voc/tech) course resulting in a certificate or two year degree leading to employment opportunities. The Cabrillo Civic Club of California is offering scholarships to Hemet High School seniors that are of Portuguese descent. The intent of the donors of this scholarship is to assist students of Portuguese descent who have a desire to secure a higher education. Awards are given to students based on GPA, Leadership, Extra Curricular Activities and other qualifications. Attention Seniors: The Hemet Unified School District Governing Board Scholarship is now open to all seniors attending HUSD schools. Applications are available through your Google Classroom and must be completed using your KAMI app. The deadline to apply is March 19th. Do not miss out on this generous scholarship opportunity!

The Riverside County Sheriff's Association is offering TWO scholarship opportunities that range from $1000-$2500 awards to Hemet High School seniors: 1. The Riverside County Deputy Sheriff Relief Foundation Scholarship is open to ALL Hemet High School seniors who plan to attend either a 4 year college/university or 2 year college/voc-tech/trade school. 2. The Riverside Sheriff's Association Memorial Scholarship is open to DEPENDENTS of someone who belongs to the Riverside Sheriff's Association. GIRLS LACROSSE We will begin on Monday, March 1st, 2021. Practice will be from 3:45 to 5:00pm. We will be meeting in front of the Stadium. Practice will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. You MUST be cleared before participating. If you are not yet cleared, I emailed you separately. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I will be providing hand sanitizer. Please bring running shoes, mask (must be worn at all times) and water.

Clubs

Congrats to the Mock Trial team who had a great season, missing the playoffs by the smallest of margins. Total points earned in a round range from about 900-1300. In their two losses, the margins were 5 points and 6 points. The awards ceremony was highlighted by 4 members of the team earning individual medals for their work this season.  Krishna Koka received the Silver medal for Outstanding Prosecution Pretrial Motion Attorney  Gabriel Smith received the Silver medal for Outstanding Prosecution Witness - Drew Marshak  Darian Satcherwhite received the Bronze medal for Outstanding Prosecution Witness - Max Bird  Jessica Diaz received the Bronze medal for Outstanding Prosecution Witness – Kai Chavez
