We strongly encourage your business to include a link to these sites from your website land media socia pages (custom images and buttons are available from CVA). Canadian Vintners Association Annual Report 2016-2017 2 The past year was very busy for the Canadian Vintners Association, as it continues to work hard to push forward the issues of critical importance to the Canadian wine industry. In an industry where there are often diverse interests, the CVA has worked hard to create unity and strives for consensus within the industry at all opportunities. Of primary importance was addressing how wine blended and bottled in Canada is labelled. An issue that has impassioned some for many years, the consultation that the CVA coordinated and facilitated has now resulted in a new designation “International blend from imported and domestic wines” under review by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for implementation. I am proud to say that the CVA has experienced its largest ever growth in membership this past year, with 11 members joining in both in the winery and associate category. Many strategic objectives were addressed over the past year. Some of the

  • Wine Production in Québec: an Investigation Into the Price-Quality
Wine Production in Qu´ebec: an investigation into the price-quality relationship J. Fran¸coisOutreville1 HEC Montr´ealUniversit´ede Montr´eal,Qu´ebec, Canada. (May 2011, Final Version: July 2011 ) Abstract Wine production in Qu´ebec over this period has also grown rapidly with an increased interest for diversified products in terms of quality and price. The growth of supply is related not only to the number of producers but also to the increased varieties of wines proposed. An index of relative firm position in the market based on relative prices has been calculated and we demonstrate that a high price strategy is inversely related to the number of wines produced and the age of the firm. The analysis also demonstrates a positive and significant relation between price and the variable related to the perceived quality of wines (the jury grades or medals). JEL classification: L11, L15, L66, D21. Keywords: Wine production, Price index, Price-quality relation. 1Corresponding author: J-francois.outrevillehec.ca, HEC Montr´ealUniversit´ede Montr´eal, Qu´ebec, Canada. The author acknowledges gratefully the help of the Association des Vignerons du Qu´ebec (A.V.Q.) and its president Charles-Henri de Coussergues. Statistical information on wine production in Qu´ebec is available at www.vignerons-du-quebec.com/. J.F. Outreville / Enometrica 2 (2011) 7-22 1 Introduction What determines the price of a bottle of wine? The question is obviously not new but the most recent papers dealing with this subject tend to go beyond a simple competitive market where the prices are the result of supply and demand (Chiffoleau and Laporte 2004).

  • A Study of the Web Sites of Canadian Wineries
A Study of Canadian Winery Websites: Identification of a Market Integration Stage Ying Zhu Master in Computer Science Central University for Nationalities Beijing, China, 2000 A Research Project Submitted to the School of Graduate Studies of The University of Lethbridge in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree MASTER OF SCIENCE IN MANAGEMENT Faculty of Management The University of Lethbridge Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada © Ying Zhu 2005 Abstract While website features of many kinds have been examined in numerous studies, few of these studies look at the use of websites by combining information technology and marketing perspectives. Also, no industry-specific website stage model has ever been proposed for Canadian wineries in particular. This research attempts to fill this gap by developing such a model. For this purpose, a census of 206 Canadian winery websites was conducted, and content analysis was used on the results. It was hypothesized that a technology-driven model introduced by Rao, Metts and Monge (2003) could be expanded by adding Market Integration as a new stage. Supporting the proposed hypotheses, 93.7% of Canadian wineries were reported to have market integration features on their websites, and the proportion of winery websites possessing such features proved to be greater in each subsequent stage in Rao’s model. iii Original publication date: June 18, 2009 Visitors to the Lanaudière region, a one-hour drive northeast of Montreal, can fashion their own wine and cheese party along an agricultural circuit called Les Chemins de campagne. Use the B&B Aux Saveurs du Coteau in St. Cuthbert as your base. The bed-and-breakfast is located in the heart of the farmland near the St. Lawrence River and the picturesque Îles de Berthier. With their wetlands and birds, these islands, also called Îles de Sorel, are a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. They are also a great place to cycle. And once back on the mainland, the Route Verte cycling trail runs through the region, providing a convenient detour to the Aux Saveurs du Coteau. Francine Pâquet and Louise Landry, two retired teachers, run the B&B in a refurbished Victorian house that dates from 1890. They have raised five children between them and are ready to nurture their guests. The B&B is a simple country getaway, whose allure is a quiet setting amid cedar and maple trees. Settle into a pink velvet settee, look out over the vegetable and flower gardens and farmers' fields. The guest rooms, two large and two small, are especially bright and done up in pastel colours.
