Newsletter - Volume 1 - January/February 2011 ...Dedicated to the Success of Ontario’s Grape Growers 2011 Grapes for Processing Pricing Agreement The Grape Growers of Ontario (GGO), Wine Council of Ontario (WCO) and Winery & Grower Alliance of Ontario (WGAO) have agreed to extend the 2010 pricing arrangement into 2011, which includes the Plateau Pricing model for four grape varieties - Chardonnay, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The changes for the 2011 Pricing Plan are outlined as follows: 2011 Pricing Plan The parties have agreed to a 1% increase over 2010V prices for all white varieties (Vinifera and Hybrid). The red varieties (Vinifera and Hybrid) remain stable at the current 2010V pricing. Pilot Plateau Pricing Model for 4 Varieties for 2011 It was agreed by all parties to continue the Plateau Pricing model on four varieties for 2011: Chardonnay, Ries- ling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Sous la direction de Monsieur Martin Comeau MAÎTRISE EN ENVIRONNEMENT UNIVERSITÉ DE SHERBROOKE Septembre 2017 SOMMAIRE Mots clés : viticulture, agriculture, biologique, conventionnelle, externalités, quantification, économique, pesticide, intrant de synthèse Au Québec comme au Canada, l’agriculture est très présente, autant par son histoire que par son influence économique, sociale et culturelle. Dans le contexte actuel, l’industrie agricole est importante comme secteur économique du pays, mais elle se doit d’intégrer des pratiques plus durables afin de protéger la société et l’environnement. Cet essai compare deux types d’agriculture, soit conventionnel et biologique. L’objectif principal de l’essai est de quantifier économiquement les externalités environnementales et sociales liées aux intrants agricoles en viticulture au Canada et au Québec. Pour ce faire, les impacts environnementaux, sociétaux et économiques des activités agricoles conventionnelles et biologiques ont été analysés et décrits. Puisque l’agriculture englobe plusieurs cultures, il s’avère important de différencier les pratiques propres à la viticulture et sa consommation d’intrants agricoles. Puisque l’industrie vinicole du Québec comporte des activités agricoles et des activités de transformation, ces deux volets ont été analysés séparément quant à leurs activités économiques. La quantification économique des externalités viticoles canadienne s’est inspirée en grande partie sur l’étude de l’ITAB publiée en 2016, ainsi que sur de nombreuses études scientifiques internationales. -

CVA holds the trademarks to Vintners Quality Alliance, Icewine and Wines of Canada. Stated Mission: To provide focused national leadership and strategic coherence to enable domestic and international success for the Canadian wine industry. PROVINCIAL BRITISH COLUMBIA British Columbia Wine Institute – www.winebc.org The British Columbia Wine Institute (BCWI) was created by the Provincial Government to give the wine industry an industry elected voice representing the needs of the BC wine industry, through the British Columbia Wine Act in 1990. In 2006, BCWI members voted to become a voluntary trade association with member fees to be based on BC wine sales. Today, BCWI plays a key role in the growth of BC’s wine industry and its members represent 95% of total grape wine sales and 94% of total BC VQA wine sales in British Columbia. CVA has developed the websites winemoderation.ca and vinmoderee.ca to provide consistent, wine‐specific LRDG information to the public. We strongly encourage your business to include a link to these sites from your website land media socia pages (custom images and buttons are available from CVA). Canadian Vintners Association Annual Report 2016-2017 2 The past year was very busy for the Canadian Vintners Association, as it continues to work hard to push forward the issues of critical importance to the Canadian wine industry. In an industry where there are often diverse interests, the CVA has worked hard to create unity and strives for consensus within the industry at all opportunities. Of primary importance was addressing how wine blended and bottled in Canada is labelled. An issue that has impassioned some for many years, the consultation that the CVA coordinated and facilitated has now resulted in a new designation “International blend from imported and domestic wines” under review by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for implementation. I am proud to say that the CVA has experienced its largest ever growth in membership this past year, with 11 members joining in both in the winery and associate category. Many strategic objectives were addressed over the past year. Some of the
