Tom Hanks, Hollywood’s favourite uncle, could not have been better cast for the role of Chesley ‘‘Sully’’ Sullenberger, the real-life pilot who made the call to crash-land a plane on the Hudson River with 155 people on-board. He’s a straightforward and likeable man – the type that Uncle Hanks plays best – confronted with a horrifying life-or-death scenario that demands extraordinary things from ordinary people. It may come as a surprise, then, that Clint Eastwood’s film starts immediately after everyone is saved. Faced with news reporters hailing him as a hero and crash investigators that suspect he’s anything but, Sully’s actions are questioned. Did he make the right call or did he needlessly put all those passengers at risk? It’s a lot Tom Hanks to put on a guy who’s says more in decompressing from a traumatic Sully with a experience, especially when the hasty voice and apathetic investigative board a gloomy glare than lines of grills him by comparing his dialogue can. perilous performance to a computer simulation. Contributor to realestate.co.nz harcourts.co.nz 20 THE SATURDAY EXPRESS, SEPTEMBER 24, 2016 stuff.co.nz Cafe owner has her ‘ducks in a row’
As part of a series on hospitality providers in Marlborough, reporter Oliver Lewis chatted to CBD Cafe, Bakery and Deli co-owner Tania Godsall about her new central Blenheim business.
How did you get into hos- pitality Tania, and what do you enjoy about it as a career? I come from a family of chefs and have been around food my whole life, culminating in joining the Royal New Zealand Air Force and attaining my London City and Guilds qualifications. I love sharing my love of good food with people who are also passionate about food. Why did you start the cafe and what were you doing beforehand? My husband and I had been looking for a cafe for quite some time and this opportunity came along. Before this I was the Marl- borough account manager for Bidvest Foodservice. What kind of feedback have you been getting from customers so far? Amazing, the feedback from customers in the shop, on our Facebook page and TripAdvisor has been unbelievable, it’s such a pleasure to get all the wonderful CBD Cafe, Bakery and Deli co-owners Mike and Tania Godsall in their central Blenheim cafe, which opened in July.
