Day 1 July 19 Dinners: all a la Carte with wine, brandy or After landing in Airport, proceed to baggage claim. Leave the secured area, our transfer staff will wait for you at 3PM - please look for a sign with your name and or The Women’s Travel Group. Private transfers available optionally.

Transfer to our 4 star historic hotel near the main plaza, cathedral and shopping. Dinner at 7pm. Our guide walks us to/from a charming restaurant for fine Mexican cuisine. The Café de Tacuba was opened in 1912 near Plaza de la Constitución and offers traditional gastronomy of Mexico City. Enjoy home cuisine in a cosy atmosphere. Whether stuffed chili, Pambachitos, Panuchos or a Torta de Enchilada, the restaurant delights. For dessert: hot chocolate “estilo Tacuba”?

Day 2 Mexico City/Coyoacan/ Breakfast(Buffets) and Dinner

One of the largest cities in the world will amaze. Mexico City is the political, social and cultural center of the country with universities, museums, monuments. We walk to visit the presidential and murals, Zócalo and cathedral. Continue to Coyoacán a southern suburb, meaning “place of coyotes”. Besides a short walk through the historic center of Coyoacán, we visit the Museo at Casa Azul (the “blue house”). Nearby Russian exile León Trotsky lived, (visited optionally).

Continue to Xochimilco, known for floating gardens the created to supply water. Channels of the “Huertos Flotantes” continue 90+ miles. The gardens are a UNESCO Heritage site, and are popular with locals and tourists. On a small boat we visit the gardens. Dinner tonight in historic San Angel Inn located in a former dating from 1692. The colonial ambience underlies a modern restaurant with the highest standards for more 50 years. Just a few steps from the Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo museum, we enjoy exquisite fusion Mexican cuisine.

Day 3 Mexico City Teotihuacán Pyramids/ Tepotzotlan Breakfast and Dinner Visit the huge pyramid complex of Teotihuacán (49.0 km / 70+ Min.) The first city in the “New World.” built between 250 BC- 700 AD, had a population of 125,000–250,000 in 2,300 apartment complexes. It was the largest metropolis on the American continent. When you walk along the mighty “Avenue of the Dead” ( 1 km long) you become aware of dimensions. Ongoing excavations, expand knowledge of this civilization every day. We stop in Tepotzotlan, acolonial town famous for its zocalo, handicraft market and Monastery San Francisco Javier Dinner at Limosneros, a gourmet restaurant, beautifully appointed in modern Mexican style. The innovative menu – chicken with walnut and chili sauce to spareribs with agave syrup is modern cuisine. Leave room for a fabulous selection of ice cream.

Day 4 Mexico City/ Breakfast and Dinner The Museo Nacional de Antropología is the most famous museum of its type in the world. It has 12 exhibition halls, each dedicated to a different pre-Columbian civilization of Mexico over nearly 20-acres. Designed in 1964 by Pedro Ramírez Vázquez, the monumental construction is fabulous. Discover the civilizations of Olmec, , Aztecs and Maya, among others. We continue to Chapultepec, where we visit the castle built by Maximilian.

We dine tonight in Huset Restaurant in the artistic district of Roma Norte enjoying delicious, original Mexican country dishes. We sit in a glorious garden patio which combined with rustic wooden furniture and hanging lamps creates a picturesque ambience. The chef Maycoll Calderón worked in New York and San Sebastián; he creates daily menus with seasonal vegetables, refined spices and fresh seafood.

Day 5 Mexico City Breakfast Transfer to the airport(not included) ; the hotel will arrange it for you individually or share with others using your group flight list.

Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton is a restored 4 star hotel centrally located in a safe and historic part of Mexico City. The hotel has air conditioning, free wifi, free bottled water, safes, hairdryers, and our groups have always enjoyed it. There is a coffee shop and a second restaurant on site. Breakfast is a generous buffet.
