Formed in 2007, the current line-up consists of vocalist Ariel and guitarist Sean Jump. Their debut album, Scripted, was released by Tooth and Nail on August 23, 2011, and has since broken records for the first week of debut album sales in addition to the seven Billboard charts. Origin story (2007-2009) Ariel met Jump in 2007 and, after discovering that he was playing guitar, began a musical collaboration between them. When the need for a drummer arose, Jump hired Adam Kronshagen, with whom he played casually as a member of the local party scene (of which Jump was six months clean at the time). Bassist Joshua Davis joined the band, which was officially formed in December of that year. The band played their first show at a local club in front of an audience of family and friends who gave them a positive reception, although, by the band's own admission, they gave a bad performance. Ariel said of the performance: Our passion for music was there, all that was missing in the sound that paid off with enthusiasm. Over the next two years, the band toured the Midwest and released two EPs, Icon for Hire EP (2008) and The Grey EP (2009). In the same year with the release of the latter, the original bassist Joshua Davis left the band. Tooth and Nails and Screenplay (2009-2011) Guitarist Sean Go play at a concert in 2011 In late 2009 the band was Tooth and nail records through Myspace. The label then sent representatives to one of the band's shows, and eventually signed with them in July 2010. We are delighted to join such a well-established and respected group as Tooth and Nail, the group shared after signing them. It is a record label that has a history always representing good music and really working side by side with its artists. Because we have been doing this on our own for over two years and it looks pretty good to collaborate with Tooth and Nails. We can't wait to record our debut album and see where this road takes us. They spent the last quarter of 2010 in the studio with producer Rob Hawkins and Aaron Sprinkle to record their first debut album Scripted, which was released by the label on August 23, 2011. The album reached The Billboard #7 for hard rock albums, #5 for Christian albums, #16 for alternative albums, #22 for rock albums and #95 on the Billboard 200. It also sold more than 4,300 units in its first month of release and broke the sales record in its first week on the tooth and nail debut album. The band also achieved success with the single Make A Move, which peaked in #13 on Christian rock R'R/Billboard and had a music video released exclusively online on guitar World magazine's website. Also in 2011, the band acquired bassist Josh Kinchelo. According to an interview with TVU in February 2012, the band was in the early stages of songwriting for the second album, but with plans to tour as much as they could for the remainder of 2012. In early 2013, they entered a studio in Los Angeles with producer Mike Greene to record a new album, which is expected to be released in the fall of that year. The names of some of the songs that will be part of the album have been revealed on their social media, including Sorry About Your Parents and Slow Down. On August 15, 2013, the band released their first single from their second studio album, Cynics and Critics. The album was released on October 15, 2013, and reached The Billboard #8 for hard rock albums, #4 for Christian albums, #16 for alternative albums, #20 for rock albums and #66 on the Billboard 200. Departure from Tooth and Nail and You Can't Kill Us: 2015-now June 6, 2015 Icon For Hire announced that it had terminated the contract with Tooth and Nail Records to become independent, citing creative, ideological and technical differences with the label. They simultaneously announced that they would release a new song and released the song Now You Know. Icon For Hire has released a mini-album (in limited edition) containing songs Now You Know and Bam Bam Pop. In the In February of the same year, the band posted an official music video for the song Now You Know on their official YouTube channel. On November 20, 2015, the band announced that Adam Kronshagen was leaving the band to focus more on his family, and that the band would continue. On March 15, 2016, the band announced a Kickstarter campaign for their new album, You Can't Kill Us. The album will be released throughout the year, with three new songs released every three months. The group raised $127,200, exceeding the original target of $2,016. To date, 6 songs have been performed for the album You Can't Kill Us: Here We Are, Supposed To Be, You Were Wrong (which received the music video), Get Well II, Happy Hurts (which received a lyrical video) and Pulse. "Green To Gold" is the much-anticipated new album from New York based Indie/Folk band The Antlers. Perhaps what distinguishes "Green To Gold" from the rest of The Antlers' canon is its, well, sunniness. Conceived and written almost entirely in the morning hours, "Green To Gold" is the band's first new music in nearly seven years, and easily their most luminous to date. The brighter outlook emerged, paradoxically, after a succession of ominous events. In 2015, Silberman suffered with an auditory condition that made touring near impossible and he retreated to the quiet of upstate New York to heal. His return in 2017 with a solo album was short lived when he was diagnosed with lesions on his vocal chords, which required surgery and again a quiet rest and recovery period. Singer and primary songwriter Peter Silberman explains. "I took these health obstacles as a sign that I should change course for a little while. I hadn't made a full stop like that since The Antlers began. I think the shift in tone is the result of getting older. It doesn't make sense for me to try to tap into the same energy that I did ten or fifteen years ago, because I continue to grow as a person, as I'm sure our audience does too. "Green To Gold" is about this idea of gradual change".
