Scholarship All admitted students receive the Yenching Fellowship for the first academic year, which covers: q Tuition q Accommodation in the Yenching Academy House q A monthly stipend q One round-trip travel stipend q Basic medical insurance Students who maintained a good academic standing, and plan to stay in Beijing during their second academic year can apply for the second-year Yenching Fellowship. Additional funding, in the form of research or teaching assistantships, can also be applied. Spring Field Study p Scholars design their own field study trips as part of the China in Transition course. p In 2017, 40 groups visited 15 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions p In 2018, 34 groups visited 14 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and special administrative regions p In 2019, 30 groups visited 15 provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and special administrative regions Field Studies & Site Visits Field trips to urban centers and rural areas expand students’ understandings of China through on-the-ground experience. ▲ Students visit FAST, the world’s largest radio telescope, during a trip to the Southwestern province of Guizhou. Candidates must submit all materials before 12:00 noon (Beijing time) on the deadline. Letters of recommendation must also be received by this deadline. Please note that we have highlighted in yellow a few updates introduced to the 2021 cohort recruitment; see below for more information. Eligibility • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field; currently enrolled degree program awarded no later than August 31 of the year in which they wish to enroll; • An outstanding academic record; • Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China; • A record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, social responsibility, and leadership potential; • English proficiency.
