It is important that the school office has your most current phone number. DELAYED SCHOOL OPENINGS: The Norwich Public Schools will utilize a 2 hour delay when there is a need for a delay. This means that transportation will arrive approximately 2 hours later then your child’s regular pickup time. This includes "out of town" transportation. Morning care, for students who are already registered and attending, begins at 8:30 a.m. Please do not drop your child off for morning care if they do not regularly attend this program. If travel conditions fail to improve, it is possible that schools may NOT open - please continue to listen to your radio/TV station for updates. EARLY DISMISSAL: Announcements that the NORWICH PUBLIC SCHOOLS will dismiss early on a particular day will be announced on the radio, television, posted on our website, on social media and through school messenger. AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS: In the event of an early dismissal, there will automatically be no after-school programs. There may be times when school is dismissed at the regular time but after-school activities are canceled due to inclement weather or other circumstances. This information will be announced via radio, television, posted on our web-site, on social media and through school messenger. PRESCHOOL When there is a 2 hour delay there will be NO morning preschool for half day sessions. The afternoon preschool will be picked up at the normal time. In the event of an early dismissal the afternoon preschool sessions will be cancelled. The morning preschool students will remain and be dismissed with the rest of the students at dismissal time. Should you have questions about these procedures, your child’s school will be happy to answer them for you.     6114.6(a) Instruction Inclement Weather The following procedures will be followed in connection with the holding of school sessions on stormy days. All decisions will be made by the office of the Superintendent of Schools. 1. Cancellation of School Sessions a. Notification of the cancellation of school sessions for a particular day will be carried over the local radio stations before 7:00 a.m. b. Sirens in the various fire stations will be sounded at 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. to signify no school. The signal will be 22. c. When school sessions are canceled in the morning, there will be no afternoon sessions. 2. Late Opening of School Sessions There are occasions when roads are hazardous for travel in the early morning hours but become easily passable later in the day.
