Dan Leonard Dan Leonard knew a career in the hospitality industry was a good fit from the moment he began washing dishes at his neighbor’s bar at an early age. He was drawn to the fast- paced environment, working with a variety people and the never-ending challenges and rewards that restaurant/hotel professionals encounter on a daily basis. Dan began his hospitality career at his neighborhood McDonald’s restaurant in Chicago, where he learned and practiced the McDonald’s corporate motto and operating philosophy of QSC&V (Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value), which he carried on throughout his career. While attending Triton College, Dan moved into the full-service restaurant segment at The Rusty Scupper Restaurant in River Grove, Ill. During his 15-year career at The Rusty Scupper, Dan started as a cook and worked his way up to a management position. He later joined Planet Hollywood Restaurant Company at their inception and helped grow the chain from three restaurants to over 40. Highlights include opening and operating the chain’s highest grossing restaurant at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., before being promoted to east coast regional director, overseeing the expansion and operations of over 15 restaurants from New York City to Key West, Fla. For the past 20 years, Dan has been with Margaritaville Hospitality Group. He was hired as the opening general manager of Margaritaville at Universal Studios in Florida with a goal of spearheading future growth. Dan was promoted to president of Margaritaville Hospitality in 2007 and now focuses on the growth, operations and profitability of the brands expanding lodging division. -

Manhattan Retail Market MID-2ND QUARTER 2019 REPORT Pictured: 915 Broadway Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards Makes its Far West Side Debut Opening day arrived on Friday, March 15th for the highly anticipated 7-story, 1 million-square-foot retail center within the multi-building Hudson Yards complex. Anchored by Neiman Marcus, which has made its New York City debut in the 3-story, 250,000-square-foot space the Dallas, TX-based high-end department store leased back in 2014, the vertical mall adds a wide variety of retailers and food offerings to the burgeoning Far West Side neighborhood. Developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group, the retail component that straddles the 10 and 30 Hudson Yards offi ce towers sits along 10th Avenue between West 30th and 33rd Streets. About 90% leased at opening, there are 100 stores and 25 restaurants from fast-casual to fi ne dining spread throughout, with several of the restaurants operated by well-known chefs including the 35,000-square-foot Mercado Little Spain, a Spanish-themed foot court operated by chef José Andrés located in the base of 10 Hudson Yards; as well as the casual all-day restaurant Cedric’s at the Shed by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group that opened in April within the arts and culture venue. In addition the entire 2nd fl oor dubbed Floor of Discovery is an experimental concept that offers a mix of “fi rst locations for digitally native brands and experiential shopping offerings from modern brands;” while the permanent Snark Park exhibition space operated by design studio Snarkitecture will feature a rotating schedule of design environments and unique retail experiences. -

COALITION POWERED BY GREEN AMERICA STARBUCKS: FROM CROP TO CUP APRIL 2015 THE IMPACT OF SOURCING INDUSTRIAL CONVENTIONAL MILK updated January 2018 A MILK COMPANY Starbucks is one of the world’s most popular and widespread coffeehouse brands. It has over 22,000 cafes in 66 countries.1 In Manhattan alone there are 9 Starbucks per square mile.2 Starbucks built its reputation on delivering specialty coffee, putting a lot of energy into telling the story of its coffee from field to café. But what the company fails to address is the fact that each year, it purchases over 140,000,000 gallons of milk— enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool 212 times.3 The fact is that Starbucks is a milk company as much or more than it is a coffee company. It is beyond time that it addresses the many negative impacts the industrial conventional dairy supply chain, from feed crop to cup, has on animal welfare and human and environmental health. If Starbucks’ goal, as stated on the company’s website, is to “share great coffee with [its] friends and help make the world a little better,” it is essential that the company transitions to organic milk.4 By setting the organic milk standard for coffee chains, Starbucks can demonstrate a serious commitment to providing environmentally and socially conscious products. Competitor com- panies like Pret A Manger are able to offer organic milk at a lower price than Starbucks charges for conventional dairy. It is our responsibility as consumers to vote with our dollars and use our voices to persuade the dairy industry to im- prove. -
