Inside Moscow City State, a human detective, Denis is forced to partner with a hated Quazi police officer to investigate a murder which is at the centre of a sinister global conspiracy.

Haunted by his own demons and unable to trust anybody, Denis realises the survival of humanity is at stake - and their biggest threat is the Quazi, who have evolved from the risen dead, with a horrifying destiny for remains of humanity…

Based on the best-selling book by Sergei Lukyanenko, Quazi is an eight-part TV serial with the potential to franchise across multiple seasons, spin-offs and platforms.

Season One is set in Moscow in the near future - a high-tech, fortified city under joint human and Quazi rule. It’s ten years after a medical drug trial went catastrophically wrong, causing an apocalypse of the Risen dead. Behind high walls, Moscow is networked to similar city states around the world which protect the remaining human civilisation.

Our story centres around Denis, a police detective who is haunted by the past horror of being forced to abandon his wife and child to the hell of the apocalypse.

Denis has a deep hatred of both the Risen dead and the Quazi who elevate from them. When he’s assigned to investigate a murder, Denis is forced into a partnership with Michael, a Quazi agent, who is also hiding the true nature of his real mission.

They reveal the murderer to be a beautiful Quazi scientist, Victoria, but her elevated nature means she shouldn’t be capable of killing. Denis finds himself drawn into a conspiracy which forces him to question everything he knows. Taunted by Victoria, who seems to anticipate their every move, Denis and Michael begin to realise they are hopelessly out of their depth.

When Denis learns the shocking truth about Michael’s own son, his paranoia spirals out of control and he must face up to his own terrible demons while trying to save mankind.

Season one is a self-contained story which sets up a major supernatural sci-fi franchise which offers a completely fresh take on the hugely popular genre.

Denis is our human protagonist.

A detective inside the Moscow City,

he had to abandon his wife and

child outside the wall and is haunted

by loss. He hates all dead, whether

Risen or Quazi, with a passion.

But most of all Denis hates himself.

Now he has to partner with the

thing he hates most and embark on

an investigation which will place Ben Foster Joel Kinnaman Dean Jagger him and all of living kind in the

greatest danger since the apocalypse.

But in doing so, Denis might just

find a path to the future.

Michael is a Quasi agent. As Denis’s hated living dead, he is a ‘fake opponent ally’. In his sixties but possessing enhanced strength and agility, he is effectively Robert Patrick immortal but a time capsule of the 1980s. Michael answers only to the highest Quazi authority and is on a secret mission which is far bigger than the initial murder investigation. Intelligent. Ultra-calm. Ambiguous. Michael is the ultimate strategist. But like some elevated Quazi, he is starting to rediscover his emotions.

Lux is ex-Spetnaz special-forces who exists in the shadowy world of the Seekers.

Lux is highly resourceful and willing to risk everything to go Outside to salvage valuable artefacts.

If anything is happening in Moscow City, or anywhere for that matter, Lux usually knows about it.

Lux lives life on the edge and regards her Seekers as her family, including her lover, Angel. She has a moral code and is an ally to Denis…most of the time.

Ana works in the Moscow City police

with Denis. She’s everything Denis is not.

She was young enough at the apocalypse

to adjust better to the new world

as an adult. She wants to help build a

better world. She’s an idealist.

Consequently, she is also influenced by

Government propaganda.

As an Asian woman, she also has natural

reverence for her ancestors and uses much

her salary to support her Risen dead

relatives in a facility.

Poles apart from Denis, it’s no wonder

Inside the City walls, places are ‘next week’ future, so minimise visual budgets combined with CGI glimpses of the city walls or visits to the Outside.
