Abertay University
ABERTAY UNIVERSITY ABERTAY ABERTAY UNIVERSITY 2020 UNDERGRADUATE PROSPECTUS A30 We’ve never been afraid to lead the way. We launched the world’s first computer games degree in 1997. We launched the world’s first ethical hacking degree in 2006. We’re the only university in Scotland to offer a range of accelerated, three-year degrees. And our goal has always been to bridge the gap between university and industry, allowing you to enter a modern jobs market with confidence. We’re enormously proud of our first 25 years as a university, but our city centre campus has been home to an educational institution for well over a century. When the maritime industry was big business in the city – around 100 years ago – a replica of a ship’s bridge was built on the roof of the building. With uninterrupted views of the skies over the River Tay and the North Sea beyond, this replica offered the perfect ‘classroom’ for would-be seafarers to learn how to navigate using the stars. This practical, hands-on approach remains fundamental to what we do at Abertay. Our contemporary, ever-evolving degrees have strong links with industry. So whether it’s work placements, guest lectures or networking events, you’ll be in contact with potential employers from the start. We’re a small university, which means we can get to know the real you. Our students are more than just an ID number. In fact, the close relationship between our inspiring staff and brilliant students is a massive part of what makes Abertay so special. -

Are you familiar with the churches of Christ? Have you ever attended our services before? Faithful churches of Christ desire to return to the New Testament and to be the church of the Bible. In the Bible, we find that the church is the assembly of all those who have been called out of the darkness of sin by obeying the gospel. These souls are added by God to the spiritual body of Christ, which is His church (Acts 2:42, 47; Ephesians 1:22-23). -
What Is Fund Raising?
What is Fund Raising? “Fund raising is proclaiming what we believe in such a way that we offer other people an opportunity to participate with us in our vision and mission. Fund raising is precisely the opposite of begging….Fund raising is always a call to conversion....We are inviting people into a new way of relating to their resources….As a form of ministry it is as spiritual as giving a sermon, entering a time of prayer, visiting the sick or feeding the hungry.” Henri Nouwen, The Spirituality of Fund Raising From the Christian perspective fund raising is essentially stewardship of all that God in mercy and grace has given to us. It arises out of our gratitude for what God has done among us in Jesus Christ. It is our desire to manage carefully and responsibly the gifts God has given us. Biblically, the steward is the manager of the household. We assume that role when we are employed as staff or serve as members of boards and committees. The resources we have been given to do our ministry are to be managed in thoughtful and careful ways, and whenever possible, they must be increased, as in the parable of the talents. This kind of care-full, responsible managing is a way of doing ministry as resources and the needs of others are taken into consideration. Moreover, we are asked as part of our mission to invite and involve others in what God is doing through the ministry that has been entrusted to us. So we encourage others to participate in our ministries in many ways, not the least of which is to support our work through financial contributions. -
