A great surge in the spring took the Kings Park club to a first promotion in twent y years . The momentum has contin ued and the Thistle players arrive for their inaugural visit to The Canniepairt defending an unbeaten league record , and an early season run which has taken them to second top of the table. Apart from a wee bit tinkering here and there manager Willie Pearson hasn 't made wholesale changes for the new season 's Premier league campaign , relying instead on the players who finished the season at the top of the table. Although several of the Jags ' squad have Junior and Senior experi ence , a number have stepped up from under age football. A good start to the season saw Thistle post League Cup wins over Dunbar United, Haddington Ath letic, and Musselburgh Athletic . They went down by 1-0 to Tran ent and crucially, 4-2 to eventual finalists Newtongrange Star. The Premier League campaign got off to the best of starts with a 2-1 win at home to Armadale then two Kenny Fisher goals secured a point in a 2-2 draw at Bathgate . Only a late penalty allowed the home side to salvage a draw after a Lloyd Richard son free kick seemed set give Jags full points in the 1-1 draw at Penicuik. The spirit in the Dalkeith camp was evident last week when, despite going down to ten men during the first half when Scott McNaughton saw red v Glenrothes, the home side, superbly marshalled by former St Johnstone defender David Liddle, stuck to their task in the second period and were re warded with Kevin Murray 's match winning goal in the dying minutes. The dying minutes proved significant , too, for Tayport in their last league outing when a set piece goal in time added on gave Bathgate a point at Creamery Park . Tayport 's unb eaten record was never theless preserved , but in this league, cruci ally , it's wins that count. Paul Tosh is on holiday and Tayport have injury problems to contend with . Martin Strachan is defi nitely out and there are doubts over Kris Rollo , John Tonner and Fraser Milligan. Manager John McGlashan will be hopeful that most will make it for what, even at this stage of the season , is a cru cial encounter. Tf-tc MANAy c R. ABERTAY UNIVERSITY ABERTAY ABERTAY UNIVERSITY 2020 UNDERGRADUATE PROSPECTUS A30 We’ve never been afraid to lead the way. We launched the world’s first computer games degree in 1997. We launched the world’s first ethical hacking degree in 2006. We’re the only university in Scotland to offer a range of accelerated, three-year degrees. And our goal has always been to bridge the gap between university and industry, allowing you to enter a modern jobs market with confidence. We’re enormously proud of our first 25 years as a university, but our city centre campus has been home to an educational institution for well over a century. When the maritime industry was big business in the city – around 100 years ago – a replica of a ship’s bridge was built on the roof of the building. With uninterrupted views of the skies over the River Tay and the North Sea beyond, this replica offered the perfect ‘classroom’ for would-be seafarers to learn how to navigate using the stars. This practical, hands-on approach remains fundamental to what we do at Abertay. Our contemporary, ever-evolving degrees have strong links with industry. So whether it’s work placements, guest lectures or networking events, you’ll be in contact with potential employers from the start. We’re a small university, which means we can get to know the real you. Our students are more than just an ID number. In fact, the close relationship between our inspiring staff and brilliant students is a massive part of what makes Abertay so special.

transport.gov.scot Borders Railway Baseline Study Final Report Borders Railway Baseline Study Transport Scotland 2 Borders Railway Baseline Study Transport Scotland Transport Research Summary 2016 The Borders Railway re-opened on Sunday 6th September 2015. In line with Transport Scotland‟s best practice appraisal and monitoring / evaluation guidance, the impact of the new rail line will be evaluated. To inform this evaluation, this research aimed to develop a baseline of the travel behaviour patterns and the socio economic characteristics of the area prior to the re- opening of the line. Main Findings There was a high degree of awareness of the scheduled re-opening of the rail line amongst both residents and businesses in the Scottish Borders and Midlothian. Anticipated use of the rail line amongst residents in the Scottish Borders and Midlothian was also high, with 84% (n=2,826) of respondents in these areas anticipating that they would use the new railway in the first 12 months. Anticipated use amongst residents in Edinburgh, East Lothian and West Lothian was low for leisure and commuting purposes but relatively high for leisure travel, with 53% of respondents in Edinburgh, 48% in East Lothian and 42% in West Lothian stating that they anticipated using the service for leisure trips. Of those residents of the Scottish Borders and Midlothian who had moved to the area within the last 5 years, 15% stated that the re-opening of the line had been a main factor or one of a number of important factors in their decision to move to the area. In contrast, none of the businesses who had recently moved to the two local authority areas stated that the rail line had been a factor in their decision to relocate.
