MIDLOTHIAN COUNCIL (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2019 WOMAN’S TOUR OF SCOTLAND CYCLE RACE Midlothian Council have made the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has an anticipated maximum duration of approximately 1 hour per section, will come into force on Sunday 11th August 2019 and is expected to remain in effect until the event passes through Midlothian in each direction. However once the participants of the event have passed through the road restrictions, the roads will be re-opened. The restriction is required to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, being the Woman’s Tour of Scotland cycle race. The road restrictions will be indicated by appropriate traffic signs or under the instruction of a police officer in uniform. During the event, local access will be retained for residents along the affected routes. No alternative route signing will be provided during these road closures. - Bonnyrigg Rose Footnall Club ……News……News.......News Feb 2020 ‘What does the next 12 months have in store ... ’ Dear Parents/ Carers, We hope you all had a great festive period and that the kids are all geared up to get back into their football! We certainly are! We have our new Academy kids starting their football fun journey at the beginning of March. We always need helpers for the wee ones, so if you fancy coming along and doing a bit coaching/ supporting, please get in touch ... The Club now has the lease for the pitches and the Pavilion. Our new website is up and running and we’re at the stage where we’re planning for the next 5 years of football and community development initiatives. If anyone has any suggestions or input on either of these areas, please get in touch. The pitches are tended to weekly; the Pavilion has had improvements carried out, including a nice new reception point to welcome our members, guests and customers. We still have list of tasks we’re working through - but we’re getting there! Huge thanks to Jim Wilson the clubs General Manager who has undertaken all the improvements in the Pavilion. He’s doing a great job. Thanks too to John Sime for his time getting the pitches in good shape. They’re looking great . The club got a fantastic gift from Kieran McGachie (Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic) . Kieran had his football top from the’ Scottish Cup’ game a couple of years ago framed and he’s presented it to the Community Club.

In line with Transport Scotland‟s best practice appraisal and monitoring / evaluation guidance, the impact of the new rail line will be evaluated. To inform this evaluation, this research aimed to develop a baseline of the travel behaviour patterns and the socio economic characteristics of the area prior to the re- opening of the line. Main Findings There was a high degree of awareness of the scheduled re-opening of the rail line amongst both residents and businesses in the Scottish Borders and Midlothian. Anticipated use of the rail line amongst residents in the Scottish Borders and Midlothian was also high, with 84% (n=2,826) of respondents in these areas anticipating that they would use the new railway in the first 12 months. Anticipated use amongst residents in Edinburgh, East Lothian and West Lothian was low for leisure and commuting purposes but relatively high for leisure travel, with 53% of respondents in Edinburgh, 48% in East Lothian and 42% in West Lothian stating that they anticipated using the service for leisure trips. Of those residents of the Scottish Borders and Midlothian who had moved to the area within the last 5 years, 15% stated that the re-opening of the line had been a main factor or one of a number of important factors in their decision to move to the area. In contrast, none of the businesses who had recently moved to the two local authority areas stated that the rail line had been a factor in their decision to relocate.

There have been 89 representations and consultation responses from The Coal Authority, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, The Health and Safety Executive, Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council, the Council’s Head of Education, Policy and Road Safety Manager and Environmental Health Manager. The relevant development plan policies are policies 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13 of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland Strategic Development Plan (2013) and policies RP1, RP2, RP4, RP5, RP7, RP8, HOUS4 and IMP1, 2 and 3 of the adopted Midlothian Local Plan (2008). The Midlothian Local Development Plan development strategy (approved at Council 16 December 2014) is a material consideration in the assessment of the application. The relevant policies of the Midlothian Local Development Plan are STRAT3, DEV1, DEV2, DEV3, DEV5, DEV6, DEV7, DEV9, DEV10, TRAN1, TRAN2, TRAN5, ENV1, ENV7, ENV9, ENV11, NRG3, NRG4, NRG6, IMP1, IMP2, IMP3 and IMP4.
