A possible location of the cross-boundary transport hub is at MTR Siu Ho Wan Depot. The depot occupies 30 ha of land, with flexibility built into the design for retrofitting development above the depot. MTR access to Siu Ho Wan on the Tung Chung Line could be provided by the construction of an additional station, subject to Government’s approval for the station and authorization under the relevant Ordinance. The cross-boundary transport hub has the potential to be a major transport interchange, providing park-and-ride facilities, a MTR station and a public transport interchange.

    Annex 10C Fisheries – Survey Results 10C.1 SURVEY RESULTS 10C.1.1 INTRODUCTION This Annex presents the results of the adult fish production survey, ichthyoplankton and fish post-larvae survey, and vessel survey conducted to characterize the existing conditions of fisheries resources at selected locations within the Assessment Area. The methodology for the surveys is described in detail in Annex 10B. 10C.1.2 SURVEY SCHEDULE In accordance with the agreed methodology, fisheries surveys were carried out from October 2016 to July 2017 and the survey schedule is summarized in Table 10C.1.1. All surveys were conducted during daytime at each of the selected locations. During the course of the survey, sea conditions were mild to moderate and weather conditions were fine in general.     For discussion on Task Force on Land Supply 5 December 2017 Paper No. 12/2017 TASK FORCE ON LAND SUPPLY Reclaiming the Reservoirs PURPOSE Some members of the public suggested releasing and reclaiming reservoirs for large-scale housing development. This paper provides Members with the background information about the water supply in Hong Kong, and the potential challenges in taking forward this suggestion (“the suggestion”). BACKGROUND Water Supply in Hong Kong 2. Hong Kong does not have large rivers or lakes. Its annual rainfall averages around 2 400 mm and takes place mainly in the summer months. Coupled with Hong Kong’s hilly terrain, collection of rain water for potable uses has always been a challenge in the water supply history of Hong Kong. Catchwaters and reservoirs are constructed to deal with the uneven distribution of rainfall. With the continuous urbanization and economic development, the Government has been adopting a multi-barrier approach to control the risk of pollution of our valuable water resources. This includes designating about 30% of the territories as water gathering grounds within which developments are under strict control and adopting advanced water treatment technology before distributing the treated water for consumption by the citizen. 3. Since the first reservoir system was built in 1863, Hong Kong now has a total of 17 reservoirs1 (Figure 1) which altogether have a storage capacity of 586 million cubic metres (MCM) collecting on average an annual yield of around 246 MCM. Among these reservoirs, the High Island Reservoir (HIR) and the Plover Cove Reservoir (PCR) with storage capacity of 281 MCM and 230 MCM respectively are the two largest reservoirs, accounting for 87% of the total storage capacity.

Schormans Abstract Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins face a number of serious anthropogenic pressures in Hong Kong waters. Since the late 1990’s, data has shown both a decline in their abundance and shift in their distribution, therefore obtaining a better understanding of their habitat use through passive acoustic monitoring is important. Twelve C-PODs deployed throughout their habitat from June 2018-July 2019 were able to provide data on diel, seasonal and geographical patterns in their acoustic activity; and location had the largest effect on the probability of detections. When acoustic and visual data were compared to characterize the ability of the C-PODs to detect dolphins and assess the relative efficacy of each detection method, little overlap was found between methods. Despite these limitations, the C-PODs are able to survey continuously and simultaneously over many areas and represent a valuable tool for long-term monitoring.
