The aim of this conference is to promote the advancement of smart grid technology and research. It is also hoped that ISGT Asia 2014 would provide a platform to enable interactive exchanges between researchers, academicians, policy makers and industries on issues relating to smart grid implementation and its related matters. ISGT Asia 2014 is proud of having three distinguished keynote speakers presenting issues from their various viewpoints and two tutorials that would bring much benefit to the participants. Participants would also have the opportunity to listen to experienced speakers from both academia and industry in two plenary sessions. A special acknowledgement to our sponsors and supporters whose financial contribution and support had elevated the conference expectations. In addition, I would also like to thank our distinguished keynote speakers, plenary speakers and reviewers for their invaluable contributions. Finally, a big thank you to all the participants for supporting ISGT Asia 2014 and we hope that this conference would enhance collaboration among yourselves for further development in smart grid technologies. Last but not least, I wish to express my gratitude to the organizing committee for their commitment and diligence in planning and executing this conference. Zuhaina Zakaria, PhD SMIEEE Conference Chair, ISGT Asia 2014 IEEE PES Malaysia Chapter Chair The IEEE ISGT Conference Asia is one of the biggest IEEE Smart Grid conference in Asia. In the past, IEEE ISGT Asia was held in India, China and Australia. Thus, IEEE Power and Energy (PE) Malaysia Chapter is delighted and honored to be chosen as the host of the 2014 IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies (ISGT) Asia in Kuala Lumpur. It is my great pleasure to welcome all the speakers and participants who would be sharing their views on Smart Grid-related subjects. Both academia and industry would be sharing their insights and perspectives on the various interesting tracks. I am confident and believe that through this conference, we could learn from each other and maximize the opportunity for networking and exchanging of ideas. I would like to briefly introduce IEEE PE Malaysia Chapter. Since its establishment in 1987, the Chapter have been working hard to connect the academia and industries together through various activities such as conferences, public lectures, technical talks and workshops. PE Malaysia Chapter is a very active chapter and this has been evident in the awards received from IEEE HQ where the Chapter had won the High Performance Chapter Grant for 10 consecutive years, since 2001. I strongly encourage non-members to join IEEE. Through IEEE memberships, you can keep abreast with the latest information in your chosen technology profession, connect with peers, and invest in your career advancement. Standing on the platform of IEEE are technical innovations, access to cutting-edge information, networking opportunities and exclusive member benefits. I hope that you would find 2014 IEEE ISGT Asia interesting and memorable. Do enjoy Malaysian hospitality! Mohd Zainal Abidin Ab.
