Your servant, LORD, your servant am I, the son of your handmaid; you have loosened my bonds. A thanksgiving sacrifice I make; I will call on the name of the LORD. Michael Thompson LINDEN: Ken Macek To strengthen them for coming strife, our Savior climbed the heights with Peter, James and John His friends, and showed them heaven's light. With Moses and Elijah there w ho spoke of coming doom, the Christ stood, radiant as the sun, to point beyond the tomb. A bright coud overshadowed them and then they heard the voice of God declaring Christ his own, the Son of His own choice. This vision great was given then, supporting mind and heart, revealing God's most loving plan in which they would take part. May Tabor's light and wondrous news shine on our Lenten days, That seeing naught but Jesus Christ, our penance may be praise! Text ©2011 WLP. Closing Hymn: Christ be our light Bernadette Farrell Longing for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, light for the world to see. Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has power to save us. Make us your living voice. Longing for food, many are hungry. Longing for water, many still thirst. Make us your bread, broken for others, shared until all are fed. Longing for shelter, many are homeless. Longing for warmth, many are cold. Make us your building, sheltering others, walls made of living stone. Many the gifts, many the people, many the hearts that yearn to belong. Let us be servants to one another, making your kingdom come. Copyright © 1993 Bernadette Farrell. Published by OCP Publications. OneLicense.net A701934 page 12 Making a Spiritual Communion When we are unable to receive the Eucharist at Mass, the Church encourages us to make an act of “spiritual communion,” where we unite ourselves to God through prayer. There are many prayers you can offer duringyour spiritual communion. Here’s one prayer: A Prayer When One Cannot Receive Communion My Jesus, I believe that, even before I was born, you have been with me, knitting my very being, day by day, into the garment of your love, clothing me with grace every moment of my life. And on the day of my baptism you poured your love into my heart through the Holy Spirit who unites me eternally to you. Through that same Spirit I pledge my love and adore you, present in your Most Holy Body and Blood. Though I cannot consume you in this sacred banquet let me be consumed by your complete desire for me so that my longing for you may be filled with your love alone and your mercy overflow through me into this world so in need. On that joyful day when I do receive you in the Eucharist, may I remember that this precious gift is still but a foretaste of the holy gifts that await your holy people at your heavenly altar. There, with the saints and angels, we shall see you face to face and give you perfect praise for ever. Amen. Diana Macalintal © GIA Publications, Inc. OneLicense A701934.
